Front Lower Grill Trims
Afternoon all.
Anyone know where I can get the front bumper grill trims in Europe? Do 50d ones fit, can I just ask my dealer? Thanks Last edited by Shorty Shorty; 06-14-2014 at 12:50 PM.. |

Shorty,
What do you mean by the bumper flaps? Do you mean the front bumper grill trim? http://www.rgsportshop.com/index.php..._category=true

Shorty, it's fairly straigthforward. Here's a good thread on it: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=967954. Many of the members here have done it themselves. The tabs on the bottom are a little tricky because there are three of them from what I have read. You just need a little patience, but you can definitely do it yourself .

R33 (Ben) has them and they are a little difficult to install. You will need new rivets depending on the color of your X5. Driver side is easier than passenger side due to styrofoam around diesel tank. When I get mine I will post pics.

Shorty,
Installation is not hard, just time consuming. You will need to remove the fender flare and fender liner in order to access it. If you have a 5.0i, there will be an oil cooler on the right side. If you have 3.0d or 3.5d, I think the oil cooler is on the left side. I don't know about the 4.0d. Some forum member able to install it from the bottom liner, I haven't got a chance to try it yet though.

I'm pretty sure they didn't take off the fender flare to install the trims but somewhere through the bottom panels. Not a bad deal at all, saved me lots of time. |

Am getting them too. Dealer has offered to spray (Carbon) but am likely keeping them silver as I have the satin alu rails and window surrounds.
Dealer has also offered to spray the wing mirror caps silver same as 50d. What do you think? |

Just to check, you are talking about the 2 fins on the left and right of the front bumper, not the actual bunny teeth grill on the bonnet? |
