Front Lower Grill Trims

Afternoon all.

Anyone know where I can get the front bumper grill trims in Europe? Do 50d ones fit, can I just ask my dealer?

Thanks

Shorty,
What do you mean by the bumper flaps?
Do you mean the front bumper grill trim?

That's what I mean, sorry. Are they available from BMW direct do you know, or available in Europe?

Shorty, it's fairly straigthforward. Here's a good thread on it: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=967954. Many of the members here have done it themselves. The tabs on the bottom are a little tricky because there are three of them from what I have read. You just need a little patience, but you can definitely do it yourself .

R33 (Ben) has them and they are a little difficult to install. You will need new rivets depending on the color of your X5. Driver side is easier than passenger side due to styrofoam around diesel tank. When I get mine I will post pics.

Shorty,
Installation is not hard, just time consuming.
You will need to remove the fender flare and fender liner in order to access it.
If you have a 5.0i, there will be an oil cooler on the right side.
If you have 3.0d or 3.5d, I think the oil cooler is on the left side.
I don't know about the 4.0d.
Some forum member able to install it from the bottom liner, I haven't got a chance to try it yet though.

I just let my dealer do it. They charged me 30 mins of labour plus tax, which is about 60 Canadian dollar and it was very professionally installed.
I'm pretty sure they didn't take off the fender flare to install the trims but somewhere through the bottom panels.
Not a bad deal at all, saved me lots of time.

Am getting them too. Dealer has offered to spray (Carbon) but am likely keeping them silver as I have the satin alu rails and window surrounds.

Dealer has also offered to spray the wing mirror caps silver same as 50d. What do you think?

I would leave them as they are if I were you. The silver doesn't seem to go well with that color. The factory paint looks sleeker. Comparison shots below:

Carbon Black M50D with silver mirrors: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=13

That is a good price I have just been quoted:

"I have priced up the parts, its £107.12 each for the trims, £4.80 for the lock rings and it will be £120 to paint and fit the trims. Total price £339.04"

They come in painted Silver

Share the love, which dealer is that?

Just to check, you are talking about the 2 fins on the left and right of the front bumper, not the actual bunny teeth grill on the bonnet?

I have just been quoted from my contact in Germany:

1 Front LEFT Grill Rim (BMW PART #51118056867) 84,00 €
1 Front RIGHT Grill Rim (BMW PART #51118056868) 84,00 €
8 Lock Rings (BMW PART #64118247773) one part costs 0,44 €

Plus 15 euro delivery to the UK.

So about £150 for the parts delivered. All BMW genuine straight from Germany.
