Goodyear Eagles

I am upgrading from an E70 and have always hated my runflats (too loud and too rough), and this was with Michelin Latitudes. I am considering a '14 F15 that has the Goodyear Eagle runflats. Is this a deal breaker...i.e. I hate to spend $70k and then immediately have to spend another $1,500 to replace! I guess the question is whether they are THAT bad?!!!

They are quiet very quiet. Mine is on 19s and rides superbly. Cannot comment on the 20s. I have never driven on Latitudes but the Bridgestones on my E70 used to break kidney stones.

thanks for the link but (a) the Goodyear LS2 is not even listed and (b) the tires reviewed are not runflats!

Here are reviews from a few sites. Read reviews that will be 19" to 20" tires in order to know similar scenarios. Good luck :

We had Goodyear Eagle LS2s on our F25 X3 with the 19" wheels. I was REALLY worried after reading all the horror stories from 5 series xi owners with AWD, but the tires turned out okay. Nothing special though.

Our new X5 has the Michelin's on them. I haven't noticed any road noise and the ride is smoother than our X3 was. We have the standard M Sport suspension.

Keep in mind, they use several different tires, no guarantee you'll get the Goodyears. We had them on our F15 for about 3k miles until I put a set of 20's on it. Never noticed any issues with noise or otherwise.

Hi. I would save your money.
I also came from a E70 3D SE with regular 18" wheels with Dunlop AS RF.
I now have a 3D M Sport with 20" Conti Summer/Performance.

While I was concerned at first before I drove the car I need not have worried.

You cannot compare the ride and handling on the E70 vs F15 it's day vs night.
It's far superior, no rattles or rolls. The car absorbs the poor road surface where I live, in the country.
As we do get ice and even snow in the winter have a set of 19" alloys and Conti's on order from my dealer to swap round come winter.

It's obviously a personal choice but the F70 is an impressive car. I would save your money and spend it on options or a damn good weekend in Las Vegas

I've had 5K on the Goodyear LS2's and so far so good since Dec 31. Just done a 10 hour trip with no issues with noise on highway speeds, you do not even notice as the F15 X5 is so much quieter and comfortable than the E70 IMHO
