strange sound when raising the sun roof

I went to raise my sun roof a couple of days ago and noticed a bit a of strange sound. It used to sound quite smooth when going up and now it sounds a bit like some gears are skipping against one another, probably only 3-4 skips but enough to make me notice it. Is anyone else experiencing this? Or is it supposed to sound like that?

I can only imagine that if you put raisins in any sunroof they might make a strange sound. Can you clean them out of there?

I agree. Fruit is for eating, not for sunroofs, I always say.

Mine actually just acted up (with no raisins involved). Moved just a little but wouldn't open for 2 weeks. Made appointment, checked a few times the weeks before appointment, didn't work until my ride to the dealership, fine since... They did do a software update and put new seals on the sunroof just in case, but there was, of course, no signs of anything wrong by the time I got it to the dealership.

Taking mine in tomorrow and will see what the dealer says about the roof noise. I'll provide an update when done.

Yep mine does it too. As long as it works it's not a big deal to me.

Took mine in for the same issue when I used the tilt function. The dealer took the roof out and checked and re lubricated everything and it was fine when I picked it up but the next day it made the same sound. It rarely makes the noise and always works so I'm ok with it I guess. It's just not something that should happen on an $40k vehicle let alone an $85k vehicle.

I took one of the techs at the dealer for a testdrive this morning and when he listened to the roof he confirmed that it should not sound like that. His initial assessment was that the seal and mechanism probably need to be lubricated. We'll see if they managed to fix this when I pick up the car. I will post and update.

All fixed, apparently the seal needed to be replaced.

Glad they got it fixed, nice and easy. Not glad that you fixed the title and our raisin jokes now seem odd to those that didn't read the original

Yeah - I'm also glad that this fix was so easy. I've got a couple of other issues on the go with the car which are not going as smoothly. Dealer being a bit of a pain to deal with but I'm being persistent.

I fixed the title on purpose knowing that some readers would be totally confused. Somewhat humorous for me I guess.

Thanks for the note.
