Another Carbon Black 30d MSport hits the streets

After what seemed like a long 3 months I finally picked up my car at the weekend. Not had a long drive yet but fantastic first impression - love the gearbox - so smooth. Fav gadgets so far ACC+HUD. Oh and the electric tow-bar brings out the schoolboy in everyone that sees it (if you know what I mean)

iPhone pics of the big reveal!

Looks great, especially in black.

I have a space grey 40D on order and couldn't get my head around the front end of the M Sport in the UK having the big black blanked off spaces either side that made it look like something was missing, so I ordered an SE.

Thanks everyone for kind comments.

@NPickles: Must admit the blanked off air intakes are not my favourite design feature either - I'm hoping I get used to them

But on a black/dark car they are much less noticeable.

Very nice pick up. The M50d front grill trim would help enhancing the look.

Yes, much prefer. Do you have a close-up shot? and do you know the part numbers?

You can get a trim piece to fit across them which improves the looks massively in my opinion. @CatFlap has organised his dealer to paint and fit them on his when he gets it. No idea how much they are though.

Side trim pieces are about £90 each (yes EACH) plus 40p each for the fasteners (8 needed) my dealer has quoted me £100 to paint Mineral White and fit at same time PDI is done. (All plus the dreaded VAT of course)

Trim on grill, left, 1 off 51118056867
Trim on grill, right, 1 off 51118056868
Lock Ring, 8off 64118247773

I guess painted silver like the m50d would look best in a dark coloured car.

Thumbs up

Sorry, forgot to congratulate you on your new X5, love the colour choice. Only wish I could get away with dark colours, my X5 is a 'work tool' covering 100k miles in the next three years and I hate washing cars (so went with a light exterior and relatively dark interior)

I had to do something about the black grilles since IMO they look dreadful especially on white or silver cars. I'm leaving the rest of the car standard, I think the X5 design is very colour sensitive and like the overall look of cars painted white. I really can't see the logic behind spending thousands on accessories on a £65k brand new car.

Thanks @catflap. Yes, getting it "G Techniq" coated in a couple of weeks so hoping that helps with the cleaning.

Did you change the grilles as well (to the open ones) or did you just add the trim to the existing closed grille?

Sorry for the late reply, was away for a bit.
Looks like CatFlap has answered the question.

Very nice! Have you thought about changing the chrome/black kidney grille to all black? That combo looks great on alpine white but curious if you guys have seen in on carbon black.
