Coding BRAKE light off

My BRAKE light is lit on my dash. I waited too long to replace my brake sensors and I can't manually clear the code myself. Went to the stealership and they told me I needed a new brake sensor and I needed to replace my battery before the light would go away.

I know that when my adaptive headlights started throwing errors I just had someone turn them off in the coding and I just don't have that feature anymore. Is there a way to code out the brake sensor light so that it's not illuminated on my dash anymore?

If the brake sensor tripped, you either need a new sensor, or you can "code" it off yourself by pulling out the sensor, stripping the two wires, twisting them together and wrapping them with some tape and tying it to the strut.

The brake light on the dash illuminates when there is an open circuit in either sensor (one per axle, LF and RR I think).

Once you do that, reset it following these directions:

Instead of coding it out, why don't you just replace the sensor? It's such an inexpensive fix ($20 tops?). Replace the sensor and the light goes out on it's own, you don't have to do anything. And unless you battery really does need to be replaced, the SA is lying to you.

Awesome. Thank you. Can I do that without removing the wheel?

After a certain period just replacing the sensor doesn't fix the brake light issue. They simply told me my battery was 'flat' and I'd have to replace the battery, have it coded to my car, replace the brake sensor and THEN have the code cleared. $$$$

Yeah that just want to make money out of you, don't be a sucker. Do what you got to do with the brake sensor, strip, replace whatever, and put your battery on a battery charger if it's really "flat" like they say it is then after to try the brake sensor parts
