FS: AiM Solo DL

First off, sorry, I know there is a FS section, but there isn't a spot for track specific gear, and this is very track specific. If the mods are unhappy please accept my apology and move the thread.

Anyway, I'm selling my E46 because I need something cheaper to feed my track habit with a baby on the way. So some of my track bits need a new home.

So I bought an AiM Solo DL from M-World at the beginning of the summer and now it needs a new home. I have:

AiM Solo DL
Mounting Bracket
Suction Cup Mount
CANBUS Cable (an OBD2 cable for the E9x can be purchase for $50)
Box, Software, Paperwork

SOLD

CAN is the way to go. The Solo is just "Listening & Logging" the data on the BUS. I have had issues with other platforms using the ODB2 port. CAN wiring for the e9X is simple. It's in the glovebox/fuse area.

Not to get off topic for the seller (although it gets him a free bump) but those with the Solo DL in the canbus, are you getting charging when it's turned on and the car is running? I have to turn mine on and it will time out if I sit in grid too long. My buddy with an E46 says his comes on automatically when he starts the car, and it charges automatically when the car is running. He never has to remove it and charge it. He never has problems with it timing out.

The breakout harness (or CAN) has +12V/GND wires for this, simple.

I'm using the m-world harness and it does not charge the unit.

I usually just solder a 12V cigarette plug on to the 12V cable on the harness, so that the Solo will charge. It's pretty easy to do.

Scott:

I have 4 wires. 2 for the canbus and 2 for 12V and ground. I spliced into can in ECU but I think you tap into can in glovebox on E92. I hardwires the power into empty slot in fuse box and tied into ground at first screw I found to the chassis. Even if you bought m world harness you should still have access to the power wires.

Scott,

To add to Tom's & Thunders replies. Check out the V1 hardware connection at the fuse box. You can tap into +12 and gnd there. The extra wires on the Solo CAN cable will have sleeves that are clearly labeled.

I'm gonna try it as well. The auto-off is a little annoying while waiting on the grid.

Sorry to thread jack...Free bump

disable auto-off. Mine starts a session from the paddock to staging and then another one once I start rolling again till the end of the session. Hands-free!

I delete all the 1-lap sessions at the end of the day.

PS. free bump :-)

Is the canbus cable universal? I'm interested in upgrading from the regular solo, but it's for my 350z.
