Paging OC3...your next car is listed for sale
There's a pretty guards red 2005 996 GT3 listed for sale on Rennlist (Ti-Jean's car twin)....it's located in near me in Anaheim Hills. Go get it.

I want to see OC3 going sideways and staying on track in a GT3 with the nannies off. Then I might be able to convince myself to go the same route. (I'm scared)

Unlike the 997 GT3, the 996 GT3 comes with no nannies (it does have ABS though)...you don't get the option of turning them on or off...that's one of the reasons why I went with the 997 version.

You only live once. Besides, let's say you pick it up for $55k. You can turn around and sell it for like $45k-$50k in a few years after you've had your fun with it....there's not much depreciation left in those cars.

Wouldn't a 996 GT3 be on par with a e9X M3 at the track (if the M3 was equipped with similar tires)?

lol, as much as I want to switch to GT3, and even if a used GT3 can be had at a reasonable price, parting out the M3, finding someone to take over the lease, learning the setups/mods of GT3 (took a while to learn that stuff for M3), etc, etc, isn't something I have time for. Plus, I start showing up at clients' offices in a GT3 and they might go "we're paying OC3 too much." And, kaiv would never leave me alone 'til I let him drive it, lol.
Where can I just rent/borrow one once in a while? Quote:
Indeed! Heavy throttle keeps the rear tires spinning nice & fast, which makes for smoother drifts. But, that's the easy part, actually. Thereafter, you gotta keep the car sideways by balancing steering inputs and throttle, all the while everything's happening fast!

OC3, I found you an even better one (lower miles) but it is out of state though...

I think the 996 GT3 has mid 300 horsepower but it's light....lighter than the 997 version by 100-200 pounds (I guess not having nannies saves some weight). I think straight line they will be very similar but the GT3 will do better in the corners because of it being lighter and being rear engine. It's definitely more raw and apt to be daily driven than a 997 GT3.
