Talking Buttonwillow 13CW Oct 19-20th

Had a great time out at Buttonwillow this weekend. Goal going in was to run a sub 2:05 lap...mission accomplished! It was a bit warm in the mid to high 80s....morning sessions before lunch were great but the track got a little greasy after lunch. There were a bunch of knuckleheads who were going off track and throwing dirt onto the track which reduced traction.

I ran in the Black group on Saturday and in the Green group on Sunday. I turned off stability control (traction control remained on) and ended up going off after the sweeper and getting the car a bit dirty. Here are the fastest laps for each day. The burping/farting sound are the nannies coming on (TC/SC...aka PASM).

Saturday 2:04.6 lap in the Black group

Sunday 2:04.8 lap in the Green group

I'm on the mission to a sub 2 minute lap (ultimate goal will be a 1:55 lap though but that might take some time). I have a fabspeed post-cat exhaust, Guard LSD, 5-lug conversion, Numeric shifter w/cup car cables, and RSS monoball suspension components. I was running NT01s with CCW wheels.

Track

I was also there Saturday and in the black group. I was in the not so fast Frozen Red M3 . I saw you go off the track just before the long straight away and I'm thinking I hope he has a real powerful vacuum cleaner to clean that shit. Lol. Yeah, it was a great day for me too.

You can definitely get the time down with those mods. So far my best is high 2:03 on rs3 but without suspension or a Stickier tire it may be tough to break 2mins. How did u feel the monoball suspension bits and the guard LSD?

The car definitely feels more planted with the monoball suspension and even creeks like an old man sometimes. It's a little bouncy even on the stock setting because of the crappy asphalt at BW but at other tracks with good asphalt I run in sport suspension. I think the NT01s will definitely let you go faster through Riverside, Phil Hill, Sweeper, and the Bus Stop. I think that 2 min might be the limit with the nannies on and in order to get down to 1:55ish I need to slow down and really learn how to drive the car.

I was able to get some of the dirt out of the car with the blower at the tire shop but yeah my detailer has a strong vacuum and got the car nice very clean.

Yea it is quite addicting. It definitely is scary at first but you quickly learn your cars behaviors. Car is pretty much stock and ran a 2:15. But i know I have a lot of room for improvement cuz my lines and braking was all over the place.

Are you the same "bchang" who parted out his 2008 E92 a couple months back? Did you get a 2013 E92? Welcome to the world of tracking cars! Be careful this thing is like disease. It's highly addicting. I've never tried "meth" but I think this is closest experience your ever going to get. Lol

Corrected. If you meant this track.

Watching the video of a guy driving an E46 M3 that's basically streetable showed me that I can cut 3 seconds from Truck Stop to Phil Hill if I run it the right way. Then there's another 1-2 seconds from Start/Finish through Cotton Corners and another 1-2 seconds from Phil Hill to Start/Finish. That gets me down to 1:57-1:59. The car can do a sub 1:55 lap with the mods I have if driven near the edge with the nannies off by the right driver (probably by the guy who works on my car).
