Spring Rates for serious track?
Looking for some advice on what people are using. Just purchased an M3 with an already installed twin tube single adjustable coilover kit with 400/700 springs + camber plates, etc... and spent the day at Sonoma Raceway. I'd really like to have something that takes a set much quicker, but is still fairly streetable. I've been racing purpose built cars for quite a few years now, and maybe I'm just spoiled.
I know from my internet research Rickybobby was using much stiffer springs, but not sure how stiff. Anybody have any experience with higher spring rates and where the ride starts to get unmanageable for a daily driver with a good dual adjustable shock? |

What about spring rates for unserious tracks?
But you probably need to call the manufacturer of the suspension kit you have to find out what spring rates your dampers can handle.

Yea, I probably had that coming. I've already called the manufacturer. I'm pretty much at the maximum already. I'll most likely upgrade to something more track orientated. Just trying to figure out what others are using who track their cars.

For JRZs, MCS, and other stuff on that level...there will be a lot of variation. I'd call Bimmerworld, TC Kline or someone who knows about the E9X M3.

It is really damper dependent, but I think 600/900 is about the limit for street use. In fact, I don't think there is benefit in going much higher than that for pure track use, unless you have aero.
