Smoked tail overlays and smoked sidemarkers
Hello everyone,
I had a 30% off coupon to Jlevisw so I went ahead and purchased some medium smoked tail light overlays. I didn't really know what to expect when I installed tem on Saturday morning...i think it ended up fine, but I probably spent 2 hours getting them where I wanted them, and another hour or so fiddling with the adhesive so that no more "fingers" were visible. I still see some little bubbles here and there, but just push them in whenever I can...hopefully they will dissipate within the next week or so. Overall I spent about $40 on them and I think for the price they are pretty sweet. The sidemarkers I bought from ebay member neondials who are based out of Walnut, Ca. My stockers were yellowing anyways, so this gave me a good reason to purchase. Shipped to me within 3 days of payment. Fitment, aesthetics, and function were all perfect, and for $33.50 with shipping (price seems to have raised $5 since i purchased) it's a great deal. Here is the link for the sidemarkers if interested. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300896023866...84.m1497.l2649 Just thought I would share with everyone! Last edited by Jcrewsn; 05-16-2013 at 11:24 AM.. |

Everything is Illegal in California. It's only a fix it ticket. I'm not too worried. I also don't have a front plate which is another fix it...
Put a pic, but the video will show it too |

You don't, a .psd file is a photoshop file, which isn't for video. You can upload it to YouTube though. If you don't want the world to see it, only those on this forum, upload it "unlisted". |

So people can see, indeed I know the reason as people tint them blacker than black....but lightly smoked with brighter lights would be nice, or clear lens with black inside would be kinda nice like on other cars . I'll still be getting the BL LCIs

This is what I did, I brought them to a local auto body shop and basically explained how light of a change I wanted, to the point that it almost wasn't worth bothering with. I compensated for that (and justified things in my head) by swapping to some LED bulbs, and I think the combo is as bright, possibly brighter than stock.
(PS Stormz welcome to the club, heh) |

I'll have to make a thread at some point for this and some other things I've done. Here are my tails - the LCI Blackline's w/ just a hint of tinting by a local body shop. Yes I tinted my blackline's... Very little though, on an Ansel Adams zone system scale the overspray on the masking tape was no darker than an 8 (meaning ~ max of 20% tint). I like the look, I have to admit. I believe the LED bulbs are brighter than the stock ones, roughly making up the difference, though I don't have picture proof of that. It's a whole, whole lot lighter than the OEM tails and the tint that was on them when I bought the car (used, here)! I thought it looked good too, but was too dark for my tastes from a safety standpoint. Anyhow here's a shot of them, keep in mind it's a gray rainy day here when considering their color. (Also, the left side isn't darker, it's just that the right side has a reflection of a white garage (looking at this pic I'd say it = real life), the other side is reflecting off a dark green tree. They are the same as each other.) Last edited by tracer bullet; 05-17-2013 at 08:19 PM.. |
