Anyone else notice this? Hoping it's just normal...

Car just Parked, everything off....after several minutes car seems to cycle its fuel pump or possibly the door locks??? Sounds like a little electric motor for a few seconds and then it stops....This is with out me even touching the car and I notice it most when washing the car or just hanging out in the garage. Whether this happens repeatedly through out the day, I dont know.
Car has comfort access so I dont know if thats involved or not here...weird. Christine strikes again...
Anyone else notice funny mechanical noises like something is cycling? Im concerned it may drain the battery eventually over time...who knows

They all do it. I've been told it is the fuel pump either pressurizing or de-pressurizing. Has not gone dead yet.

Sometimes I hear the nav DVD moving around, or something that sounds like that when the car is off.

Usually mine gets quiet after I press the key fob to "lock". That shuts everything down.

Both my x5 and 135i do the same thing. It sounds like some electrical system would get woken up (try opening the trunk after car off for while) or put to sleep after few minutes of inactivity.

Yeah, I noticed those buzzing and whirring noises on my new 128i and I don't have Comfort Access.

Seems to be normal... Some noises are part of the central locking system and the other seems to be localized to the A/C compressor...

My car does the same. Nothing to worry about.

I always thought it was thought it was the doors/trunk locking. As it seems to only happen when I don't lock the doors, so I figure it's just a safety thing. I'm sure that is what it is.

I do wish I knew exactly what it is... Just our of pure curiosity. Sometimes it sounds like its coming from the middle of the car, sometimes the rear..

I believe it is the fuel pump cycling. They added this to older models too via a DME update

If its after you turn the car off it's the water pump cooling the turbos.

If its after you unlock the car than its the Pickup pump in the fuel tank pressurizing the fuel lines before engine start - this was a clever way to help extend the life of the HPFP. BMW noticed that a lot of pump failures were caused by cavitation - no pressure in the fuel lines was deemed as a major contributor. So they added the fuel rail priming system, pretty smart on their end.
