Opinion on Purchasing After Lease
I am used to leasing new cars after each lease is up but I am really considering buying my 135i after the lease is up. I just wanted to see what you guys think are some of the Pros/Cons of buying the 135i.

Ha I'm thinking the same thing too, i wonder if the extended warranty would be worth it.

This is how I came to own my car. Leased it - decided to keep it - so I bought out the residual.
That and I was kinda forced into it. I put 65K miles on the car over the course of a 3 year/36K lease - so it actually worked out cheaper to buy the car than to pay the mileage penalties and lease something else. BMW makes it pretty simple to do, although their rates could stand to be a bit better and my CCA discount couldnt be applied, which also sucked a bit. And honestly to get the warranty to cover the things most likely to break on a 135 is about $3500. How likely are you to experience a $4K failure before 100K miles? Thats the gamble that you make. So the choice is yours. Im sitting at 76K miles and im a $2700 in repair bills currently. |

Do some research and you will see that basic extended warranties does not cover everything (electronics, navi ..etc) unless you are willing to pay 4~5K

That's a good point, i was under the impression that the extension would be less about $2800 or so.

It might be a little late now for you but something to remember in the future. Im not sure if all insurance companies offer this but GEICO has a bumper to bumper warranty to 100,000 miles or 7 years with a $250 or $500 deductible. It covers EVERYTHING except wear and tear, and you can get your repairs done anywhere including dealer.
the only thing is you have to have GEICO and it has to be added to a car before 15 months or 15,000 miles. Ill be adding it to mine in the next few months. Oh, and it costs around $6-$8 a month. If you don't use it you only pay $72 a year. Best part is its transferrable if you sell the car. I plan on keeping my car after lease and this will cover me till 100,000 http://www.geico.com/getaquote/auto/...own-insurance/ |

It used to be...I paid $2444 for an additional 4 yrs up to 75K miles. Thats why I ok'd it since I dont drive it more than 10K mi per yr. Too bad I cant sell my warranty At least it can be transferred to the new owner.

Before or after my warranty expired?
My injectors failed at 71K miles. I still think that it was BMW. The engine never made a peep until it was inspected under the injector recall. They originally thought it was a bad coil pack. And unfortunately while all this was happening I wasnt in the country. My father made decisions for me (the car was in his care while I was abroad) Before I knew what was happening the lower half of my engine was disassembled and they found 3 dead injectors - in 2,4 and 5 if I remember right. So I told them to replace all 6 - the injectors are $150 a piece! and while they were at it to do a full 100K maintenance service on it. So they adjusted the wastegates, replaced all of my O2 sensors, EGR valves, the lot. I ended up getting the injectors covered by BMW under good faith but I still got socked with the cost of the replaced parts that I called for (understandable) and the labor. $2700 |

Same dilemma here. I cant live without a stick and i don't see an alternative. If i don't like the new cayman s i will probably keep this .The downside is that my contract says that it would cost me 25k to buy it out at the end.Its been 2 yrs since and i only did 12k miles on it.
No complaints apart from those jerky shifts. |
