KW V3 Install Tomorrow - Words of Advice

Hello compadres. I've been rather silent on here since I took delivery a couple of months ago. Probably due to the fact that I am having too much fun. I finally set a date with my BMW dealership to install my KWs however. Before you complain, I am located in the ass crack of Virginia and the closest indy shop is about 4 hours away.

Either way, my dealership explained to me that they hardly do any aftermarket work, but since I am a known customer, they would handle the install for me... Didn't realize it would cost $950, but it's the price you pay for living in the middle of nowhere.

Since they aren't exactly familiar with the KW install process, any words of advice that I should remember to make sure they handle correctly? It's a non-EDC car and kit, if that comes to mind.

Thanks broz.

It shouldn't be anything more complicated than installing the stock components, so I'm sure they won't have any problems.

My only advice is to take measures of the coilovers prior to doing an install to make sure the ride heights are set properly and relatively evenly. If I remember correctly, KW is usually pretty good at having most things pre-set out of the box. Just remember that our cars do not handle that well when they are overly dropped.

Other than that, as "duk" said, stay safe and enjoy it afterwards!! Best of luck.

I have my ride height set at 13 threads exposed on the front and 8 in the back. This gives you about a 13.75" height from fender to roundel center. I have the adjustment on the top of each strut to one turn and the bottom of the struts to six clicks.

thanks for sharing those numbers - im also considering upgrading to kw v3s on my non-edc car - what is your car tuned for (street/track - mix)?

My car is setup for street. The roads in El Paso are terrible, so I keep it high enough and comfortable enough for everyday driving. I went from an Evo IX to an M3 so my idea of comfort is a little different than most

I would keep an eye out for the headlight sensors. Being that it's a dealership they probably know what they're doing. But if you find your headlights pointed to the ground to really high you'll know why.
