You forgot to say it was a lease and provide the terms.

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

Uhhhhh that doesn't seem too good at all.

25%-30% Residual value after 5 years?

I am assuming that was a lease payment, since $687 x 60 is $41220.

keep us posted,

I didn't realize that "Pentagon Federal" was offering BMW Select financing. I assumed that was only via BMWFS.

That's why I figured it was a lease.

In any event, lease or balloon, we don't have enough info to know if it's a good or bad deal.

pentagon federal's program is called payment saver auto loan.
bmwfs's is called bmw select.
they are both the same thing, balloon finance.

https://www.penfed.org/productsAndRa...SaverLoans.asp

lease rates i would imagine would be significantly higher than either programs.
navy federal doesnt provide balloon finance unfortunately.

I see it as basically the same thing as a lease, except the buyer takes all the value-at-resale risk, and so gets "paid" for that risk via a somewhat lower interest rate than a lease.

yes theres no walk away options @ the end of the terms. i did it for my 135 and was able to sell the car for what i owed on it after 2 1/2 years. 1M values should hold better and shouldnt be a problem to sell the car after 2-3 years either.

I am doing select on mine and it comes out much better than lease (just because lease rates on this car are terrible). I don't have details, but monthly payments on select is about 70-100 better than lease in my case.
