Euro Delivery

Any US customers had luck finding a ED allocation in recent weeks? I know some folks who were wisely after the car at the very begining were able to line them up.

My dealer won't do ED for the 1M at all saying that normally it doesn't come out of their allocation but with the 1M it does and they don't want to lose the money on the ED discount.

Between not having and opportunity to see VO in person and seemingly no way to get ED even if I can get an alloction I'm starting to feel like giving up and sticking with my e92 m3.

Thanks

The ED invoice is lower than US invoice to make up for the "lost" money. Dealers will not lose money doing ED.

Yes you can find dealers willing to do ED just start looking around. I KNOW there are allocations out there, I just found one a few weeks ago for someone.

Yes... Move on from your local dealer if they won't play nice. When you are buying ED, I am pretty sure the vehicle can be shipped to ANY dealer for delivery. Won't you enjoy it when the local dealer gets your car in to prep it? hahahahaha!

Yeah I'll start looking wider. I'm not sure if I totally understand this but this was what we wrote back to me:

"Some dealers choose not to offer the car for Euro since it comes out of the US allocation. Usually cars for Euro come out of BMW NA allocation so they don’t effect the dealer. That is why there is a price break.

The 1M’s come out of our allocation so my GM is not offering the Euro delivery on this model We might get four cars if we are lucky. We have gotten only two so far."

That's what I'm hoping too. I'm in the same boat as M3 and Papethova already know. I am pretty dissapointed in my dealer too. I have been going there for 6 years, referred a friend who bough two cars in two years there but now that they have two allocations, it means squat to them. They want $5000 over MSRP. I could come from Nebraska with 5K over and they would sell the car for me for ED, but pretty loyal customer and not one bit of difference. I even offered them $3200 over ED invoice (US MSRP) and doesn't matter.
They just lost a customer.

I'm now trying someone recommended to me and they seem more reasonable and I am hoping for ED too! Good luck and forget the local dealer, they are blinded by a few extra bucks now and don't realize that that they are losing in the end. I live in San Diego and cars are always cheaper in Los Angeles but I used to pay more here because they were my local guys, but that and $1.80 might get me a cup of coffee at starbucks. Their true colors have come out.

Good luck.

Keep in mind that if you want the ED bad enough yet your dealer won't give you the ED discount you can still choose to do an ED. That isn't up to the dealer, only the discount is.

Yes, but you're effectively paying over MSRP if you do that IMO.

Well, is it true that 1M ED allocations come out of dealer allocations? What’s the difference between the 1M ED program and the ED program for other models?

Is it also true that the car can be shipped to any dealer in the country that you specify if you do ED? Where is the car registered in that case?

doont get me wrong, supply and demand - free market. Im all for it. BUT, for future customers, they should know that loyalty means squat. Haggle like a mother f%$@$-er, with no remorse. "It all business"

That's not the point. 1M ED MSRP is about $3K cheaper (plus some tax savings too) than regular MSRP. So if you’re doing ED and paying for regular MSRP, that’s essentially a $3K markup. You won’t need to rent a car while in Europe either way whether you pay that $3K markup or not.

Personally the primary reason I want to do ED is to save some money as I can get free airfare, hotel, and rental car (if I don’t want to risk driving the new car). If I get a nice vacation out of it at the same time, that’s just icing on the cake. So if I cannot save money by doing ED, then there’s really no point for me to do so.

I know about the %7 discount for a normal ED, I got this on my 07 335i. It's a good deal. But with the 1M the dealer must agree to it.

Good luck to you finding a ED discount on your car.

My dealer has agreed to do a Euro delivery for me. I am a pretty good customer though - have bought five cars from him plus referred five others (three who have bought from him).

Depending on when the build date is, I will either tie the pickup to my Oktoberfest trip or a business trip later in the year.

How is there a tax savings with ED? Does anyone know about how much you save in taxes?

Yes, multiply the $3180 ED savings x your local tax rate!

For example, my tax rate is 8.75% in San Diego so buying an ED car will save me $3180 off US MSRP plus $278.25!

Net savings is then $3458.25

PLUS

In california registration and annual renewals are based off the sales price SOOOOOO you will save money on registration and annual renewals!

Furthermore....if you finance, you will save interest on $3458 over the life of the loan

So you see, ED is an amazing concept!

That depends on the dealer you want it shipped too. Some dealers will accept the car but there is a charge for prepping car. However, thats up to them if they want to do it. If you are on the East coast or close to Performance Center then have the car delivered there and do Performance delivery.......best of both worlds. You pay taxes on where you live when you register the car.

its a fact. got my state board of equalization email last night it surprised the shit out of me.

http://www.nowackcpa.com/home/2011/0...y-1-on-july-1/

California Statewide Sales and Use Tax Rate to Decrease by 1% on July 1, 2011

Statewide Base Tax Rate Decreases from 8.25% to 7.25%

Effective July 1, 2011, the one percent sales and use tax rate increase that was approved with the state budget and effective April 1, 2009, will expire lowering the statewide base tax rate from 8.25 percent to 7.25 percent. In areas where there are voter-approved district taxes, the total tax rate related to sales and purchases will be the statewide base tax rate of 7.25 percent plus the applicable district tax.

Holy Crap Batman! That would save me $442 on the car!

I really hope you are right. I have a sense that they will pass some last minute emergency extension. My sense is a 1 percent drop in sales tax would be catastrophic under the current conditions. I mean they are shutting things down left and right, selling state parks, closing schools, my wife is a teacher and they are laying many off and putting a bunch more kids in the classroom. This would be a pretty scary jolt to the state if it goes through right now. Not sure to be happy or scared......extra $442, state goes deeper in the hole?????

Confirmed, you are correct, found Reuters article. It says that Governor Brown is trying to renew the higher tax rate. My guess it that they will get it done, but it would be nice to get a lower tax rate.
