Production backed up 2 months

Hey guys,

A friend and I each put an order in for a 1m build out at a dealership in California as well as New York. I got a phone call this morning from my dealer telling me that although my build date was supposed to be the 1st week of June, they just got word it wouldn't be built until August because production was delayed 2 months. I immediately called my friend who contacted his dealer and a few hours later they called him back after contacting BMWNA and they said they were told the same thing as my dealer told me. Anyone have any insight into this?

I was told if I place my order now i'll probably get it around september so yeah that sounds correct

I have no patience so this will be hard

Out of curiosity which dealer in ny did you talk to? Depending on who I talk to at my dealer I heard literally the exact same thing though my CA still says 1st week of June.

Maybe it's because of the shortage of parts e.g. chips from japan.

I have heard Audi is delaying production by up to 4 months on certain cars due to a paint shortage caused by a knock on from Japan. So maybe same for BMW??

Funny stuff going on, Australian delveries have moved up the queue from the original dates offered by BMW locally. This may be because of Japan also, ie they have allegedly dropped a number of cars from their alloocation (30 right hand drive cars) and Australia has picked some of them up. Still doesn't explain why you guys are seeing that some US cars are being bumped.

That might explain why ours moved up as well? Plus they definitely make more money out of our cars!

WOW - I just checked my production number at BMWUSA.com, and it says my car has finished production, and is "En Route". I guess it was lucky it was done before the delay.

Coastside BMW in San Luis Obisbo CA. From prior experience I think it will come earlier than later but I think they want to give themselves some room so they don't look bad if it comes later than expected.
