ATE super blue ok with StopTech BBK?
I'm having a StopTech 6-piston/4-piston BBK installed on my E90 M3 tomorrow. It's my daily driver and I plan on several track days this season. The shop doing my work is a reputable BMW-specific shop. I asked if they could source Motul RBF 600 brake fluid for me to use at the time of the BBK install; they said their brake flush systems are pre-loaded with ATE super blue and they feel the ATE fluid will be more than adequate for a few track days given the high thermal capacity of the StopTech BBK. They think it would be highly unlikely I would boil the ATE fluid given that I'll be running the StopTechs. Any thoughts? ATE super blue's boiling points are 536/388 F, while the Motul's are 594/421 F. Thanks...

ATE superblue is fine for your system....... awesome fluid...... wish i could get it easy here in the UK as its what id use.... even better you can bleed perfectly as you see the blue flue bleed through.

It should be fine.
Could they run Castrol SRF?

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Thanks for the quick replies, everyone. I'll do the ATE super blue per my shop's recommendation, and then I can always switch over to Motul or Castrol SRF later if need be...

So do you only bleed once a year too? I wasn't sure when you said "change" if that was a complete flush once a year or flush and bleed once a year.

I use Motul, however, I know a few racing buddies absolutely hate Super Blue...not because of the performance but because of the mess that blue fluid causes.

As for bleeding the brakes, my driving instructors have hammered conservative brake management so deeply into me that the calipers stay under 200 degrees Celsius. That way, I don't have to bleed them more than once a year either. |

I pretty much change out the fluid once each spring, before track season. I started doing this 2 years ago and have had zero issues. Castrol SRF is expensive up front, but since it will pretty much last you a full year with out needing to bleed your brake system or anything, it works out the same or less.
