eibachs installed and....
so i install last night the eibach prokit for my e90 m3...and im very confused, let me explain...i love the way the m3 handles stock its amazing but has a little body rolland the height is 4x4...fine. I did how ever thought they're was a solution so i buy springs...now ive read time and time again on this forum and some other about the praise the e36 bump stops shaved mounts and eibachs work wonders you can hardly notice a difference. Well i notice a difference not only is the ride softer they're seems to be more roll and not bouncy ? i like feeling the road and all the bumps in it..matter of fact i was excited by the thought of a firmer ride ? tighter handling etc. ( all the negatives that are discussed i wanted a harsher ride to be honest ) but here is the thing...i am on my snow tires still and i didnt get an alignment because the tech told me to let it settle ( oh i know everyone thinks that settling is a conspiracy i assure you...from a bmw tech it is not a myth) i didn't change the dampers stayed stock and ran the e36 bump stop and shaved mount... so my question is with my ps2 and an alignment could this change ride quality ? ?
i think back really quick on the ride over to get them installed i had snow tires on and my stock suspension....and the ride was firm and sporty and i felt bumps a lot harder i maybe jumping the gun i should let everything settle the 19's with the ps2 later this month but i just cant believe the ride is softer less bouncy and more roll... maybe this is my imagination but i don't recall getting thrown around in my seat as much as i currently am..could be the snow tires...idk shoot me some more ideas because im stumped..... im debating selling the eibachs and going h&r and bilsten shocks or should i just get new shocks and go from they're...id love coils but out of my price range and i enjoy the spring and shock idea !

I think H&R's are probably what you are looking for. ( i hear that they are a "harder" spring)
I have eibachs as well. reason why i went for the eibachs is because I was looking for the opposite of what you are looking for. If i want to do a little more spirited driving i set my suspension to the sport setting and its fine for what i need it for. If i was you i would save the cash and buy coilovers. At least you can adjust them to the way you want. |

I might want to give it a try with my wheels first ( I have not put my 19's on ) not saying the ride isn't nice, it really is better then stock but a little firmer would be nice

I understand what you are saying. Its hard to buy a spring based on what someone has written on forums, especially because of the fact that we are all different. Each of us notice different things while driving our cars. what feels good for one doesnt mean its going to feel good for all

I just posted a review of my Eibach's here http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...=493888&page=3 (post #54) a week and a half ago. I'm not saying at all they do wonders, I use the word "a little bit" twice. Quote:
You are aware the spring rates of the Eibach's are pretty darn close to OEM? The reason why I went with the Eibach's is because they lower the car marginally and retain close to OEM spring rates. What I think is going on here is like you said, your alignment and tires. Get the M within factory alignment and put a new set of extreme performance or max performance tires on. Drive around for a little bit, and then report back to us with your review |

I think you are imagining the bouncy ride (no offence). Many people imagine things just after they have done work on their car due to the fear involved with the install not being 100% correct.
Like the post above this one said, the Eibach spring rates are not even 10% stiffer than stock so the car should feel much like stock. Give it a little while and then let us know what you think. |

My experience with the Eibachs and the EDC have been similar to stock, yet when I go full blown EDC it seems to be a little more stiff than stock... but I'll be switching out my Eibachs for RD Sport pretty soon as I've been on the mission of compiling parts and doing a one time install on everything.

You need an alignment first. First thing I noticed was car didn't feel right till I got my alignment done. It's definitely noticeable that the ride is a bit firmer.

Ok ! Now that I got an alignment and put the ps2 on and volk te37.... I am much happier and have calmed down.... As time went on and I stopped being soooo crictral I find my self enjoying the ride ( because it isn't to harsh it's very pleasant nice for DD ) it is most deff softer then stock ( I don't have Edc ) handling is just about the same as stock but deff feels planted ( stock used to have wheel hop from the rear if I was on the gas and hit a bump ) I can't say I've hot the bump stop yet but I have not bottemed out so check there... Look wise it's amazing perfect drop for me personally I love it I think it should have come from the factory that way all In all I'd agree with everyones review minus the fact it's firmer then stock It just doesn't feel that way to me maybe to others but what ever I'm happy and my stance is redic so I'm happy about that as well when I hit the track I'll report back !

Dinan kit - meh
for the record.... you can choose your spring rates, get "street" camber plates (not metal on metal for better NVH) and height adjustabllity with the Ground Control kit for the same money as Dinan. And the Eibachs look better than the Dinan Kit. Last edited by Wes Howell; 03-20-2011 at 05:10 PM.. |

Are the eibachs progressive and are the oem springs linear?
With similar spring rates, that could be the reason it feels softer. With progressive springs, the quoted spring rates are usual the final numbers, with the initial rates typically a good deal softer. |

Not sure what you mean by the question mark. It appears you're being sarcastic for some reason.
Regardless, I'd just like to apologize to you, OP, for that previous post critiquing your grammer. I'll admit I had some drinks that night, and for some reason just found it extremely difficult to get through your post. I too am in the market for eibachs so I was curious about what you had to say. Sorry for taking away from your post.
