OT - Do Audi really care about sales?

I'm looking at a new car to replace the old wagon and quite like the A4 Quattro Avant for my purposes. Go into several Audi dealers and the news is all the same

No there are non in stock except 2 in NSW

We have no idea when we can get one

There are some on the computer system "to be built" but as one dealer said, these are "Christmas tree" cars (all bells and tinsel options) have no build date and are not what I want.

If I wish to order specific options I might get the car this year and don't even think of a discount.

Bye Bye Audi!

Shall wait for the new V60 and X3 before deciding.

Garage List
I concur, new X3 or a new 5'er Touring would be nice.

As I actually use 4wd, this is a given, so no fiver. The other "problem " is $$$$$$

I can probably get to $65k if I cut down on luxuries like food and toilet paper.

And I WANT A MANUAL

But I think that is unlikely.

Steal toilet paper from work and go on a diet. I can get you a X3 20D for $65k if you aren't fuss with the spec!

If you were keen on the Audi, would you look at a similar spec VW or Skoda sister model. I quite like the turbo 4wd Skoda wagon...

You don't need to use toilet paper every time you have a sh!t do you?

drove the Pissat and did not like it, Looked and felt like a block of flats. Interior bland and the R engine just plain thirsty. Went ok, but just did not move me.

Had not thought of the Skoda, but that rear swing axle would give me concerns!

(Thats a joke for the oldies on the forum)

Wonder if you would get a better result going through an auto broker who could deal with the fleet sales people?

These guys, for example?

I was after a base car with sunroof and tow bar. My guess is that if no cars exist, then a broker can not supply.

Frankly the experience does not endear me to Audi (and the fact my mates car was off the road for 4 months awaiting parts).

I was pleasantly suprised by the Volvo I sat in. Yet to drive, but 225kw and 440nm sound promising but $75k on road. Hope to test drive next week when the V60 wagon is released.

I tried to buy one before I bought the 1 of boredom, but every dealer I tried to deal with was arrogant, incompetent, and rude.
Nice cars, shit dealers.

Thanks for the comments Can only agree MickyD.

If only BMW bought out the 335ix wagon! OOpps, sorry. Off dreaming again.

It aint easy finding an affordable manual 4wd wagon which can do 0-100kph in under 6 seconds!

Will wait a few weeks for the X3 and V60 and then make decisions.

Cheers all.

Just on cyclone watch here qship. I will make sure I check up with the Audi guys when they get back up. Base car with sunroof and townbar is probably the problem - not something dealers would order for stock. So it'll probably have to be a build, I'll just get them to check the system and other dealers for anything similar in stock you can nab on the cheap. I know all the dealers always chasing numbers - they just had a killer January, I think, hence the excessive arrogance!

Nissan stagea 260RS? :P The thing probably does 5-6 seconds in standard form. With a few tweaks your killing almost anything on the road

10+ years old now, but its a Nissan GTR in wagon form.

Thanks RadiuM. Do I sense a slight bias......... or is that a Strega in your signature!

I did lust after a VR4 wagon years ago, but i then thought about it rationally.

Hey Alik01 - DUCK!

yeah, I'm a Nissan fan

I don't have the 260RS, just a normal Stagea which is pretty much an R33 gts-t 'estate'. The missus drives that thing around, I have the GTR in it's proper form

Nothing to elaborate really. I am talking about a base car, and I know people at BMW well so I can get good prices. Ask all my friends.
