Tamron 28-75mm/2.8 or Canon 28-135/3.5?
Couple good deals on the campus where I work (assuming the lenses are in good shape).
1. Tamron SP AF28-75/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical 2. Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM The Tamron has decent reviews from what I've seen and it would pretty much replace the Canon kit lens for me. The 28-135 is a few bucks cheaper, but there's lots of overlap between that and my 55-250. Any thoughts or experience with these lenses?

Sounds like you are trying to fill a gap that doesn't exist because its a good deal. Save the cash and but a lens that does more for you.

Technically there isn't a gap, you're right. But as I had been warned, the 18-55mm kit lens leaves much to be desired. I'm not sure the Tamron will produce sharper images, though, which is why I'm looking for someone here with experience with either of these lenses.

I had the Tamron and it is awesome for the price. Fixed f2.8 is key. IQ is great, but very slightly lacking in red rendering (nothing PS can't fix). Sharp wide open.
