deviated stitching

I've seen a few mentions of this but nothing in detail, and I've seen the gorgeous hellrot car with this option. How difficult is it to get this option pushed through in the US? Price?

What do you mean? Picture? To me the "M" stitching (blue/purple/red) is "deviated" stitching. Do you really mean contrasting stitching, i.e. where the thread used to sew the leather is a different (contrasting) color?

Cheers.

Same difference I think. In the Porsche catalog it is referred to as deviated stitching. And it's not that expensive from them (something like $1500 for the dash, doors, seats, and center console).

Technically I think something like the M stitching would be a subset of deviated stitching called variegated (multiple stitch colors), while deviated implies that it's just non-standard, which would mean the M-stitching and single color custom stitching are both a type of deviated stitching. I'm not a seamstress though so I don't know for sure.

As far as I am concerned, unless your car is going to be an individual, your going to have to do it on your own. My e90 M3 has extended black leather, I plan on changing the black stitching to white stitching for a better contrast. Most likely getting it done at Martino Auto Concepts.

Get ready to spend much more than 1500 lol

You got that right. But it would be cool looking. It's a shame it's not offered by BMW.

BTW, did you clean out your PM box yet?

Cheers.

I dont understand why BMW doesnt do it, it would make life so much easier. I was thinking about just having the stitching done on the seats and have a white leather insert done instead of retreading the entire interior in sight of cutting down the cost of the modification.

If I ordered an individual ext color would that open up the option to the special stitching?

Why would BMW charge much more than Porsche? I understand it creates a small logistical problem for the assembly line, but $1500 seems plenty to charge for what is probably a difference of $5 in material costs.

Because they can?

Seriously, I think you hit it right on the head when you said it's a logistical problem for them. IDK really.

Cheers.
