DIY Install Video: BMW Roundel Replacement
Hey guys,
Just thought we'd share this new video of how to properly replace your BMW Roundels. Whether you are replacing a faded, worn out one or simply upgrading to a flashier version....this should be of good help! Special thanks goes out to Justin aka JZIMAGE for making this awesome vid. |

With first hand experience, I can only say there's no way in hell you can remove an emblem for the first time with a credit card. Or with a small suction cup. The wheel ones, yes, easy. I had to use a trim tool and had to apply so much force I was afraid to bend the hood around the emblem. I guess it'd be possible to pull it with the larger suction cup, but judging by the force I needed to push the new OEM emblem to snap in place (with new grommets), I doubt it. Suction cups over plastic are not that good with steady force, which is what you need with a delicate aluminum hood.
The method I'd use if I had to do it all over again would be the suction cup to create a gap (rather than making a gap by sliding something and scratching the paint), then do the job with a proper trim tool. Video was a great idea, but not with an emblem already removed ; it's much harder the first time, and requires a different approach. I could bet my house not one person will remove an original emblem as easy as the video showed. But I can see how that video would help sell more emblems if it was as easy to do as shown . Finally, to those replacing emblems: if you don't want them stolen, INSTALL NEW GROMMETS. They're like two bucks a piece. Otherwise they'd be as easy to remove as the video. |

Actually, there are 2 vehicles in the video (we used a different one for the wheels as you can see), and both had never had the roundels replaced before, to the best of my knowledge.
Worst case, you can use a screwdriver with a cloth wrapped around it (helps to pair this with the suction cup) |
