Do these reflectors look right to you guys?
Received these a few days ago, just installed them.
They look totally fine up close, the match is pretty close. However, maybe I'm not use to them yet, but they don't seem to match my Space Grey when installed???? Maybe I'm a little nuts, maybe it's due to the fact that they stick out a bit and give off such an effect. Thoughts/comments?

I felt the same way with my AW reflectors. They looked good from a distance, but up close they looked off and the fit was not the best. I ended up going with clear reflectors and feel they look better and they definitely fit better.

i'm sorry, but it doesnt match.
light reflection might have been the issue, but the 2nd picture looks like there's no light contrast between body and reflector... somehow it doesn't look right |

Thanks for the quick responses guys...
The first picture, admittedly looks terrible - that's probably due to the lighting conditions. 2nd one isn't much better either. From a distance, they look good. Up close, I don't know what to say. Up close, they look like perfectly matched SG pieces - INDIVIDUALLY that is, not on the car. The fit is also perfect. Maybe it's 1 coat of SG on the reflectors vs. multiple coats of SG on the car??? I won't say where I bought them from until the vendor has a chance to look at this thread and comment via the thread or PM

In the first pic they don't seem to match. The other two pics they look fine. Because they stick out I think your eyes will be drawn to looking at them. Have you thought about smoked reflectors? I have smoked on my space gray and have been happy with the way it turned out.

Kaykay, yours don't look bad but they are not a perfect match. Space gray makes me second guess AW everytime I see it too Edit: Actually they look good in the second and third pics.

^^ I think I agree with the "they stick out, eyes attracted" theory. Plus they're new so I keep looking at them.
Would love to see a picture of your smoked reflectors Pillzilla...

I wanted to add that the reflectors by themselves look like a PERFECT paint match.
When they're on the car, they kind of stand out - I think it's my eyes/mind playing tricks since I'm not used to seeing them and they bulge out anyway. Ahhh the meticulous attention to detail that makes us all a little nuts...

The color probably matches fine. I think the reflectors just stand out more because.... Well they stand out. They aren't flush with the surrounding surface. Plus, the reflectors are flat, and are more or less set in a slightly curved surface, and are surrounded by other non-flat surfaces. I think all of these things make them reflect light differently than their surroundings and make them appear slightly different colors and therefore they stand out. I dunno, I could have just made all that up.
For example, look at the first picture where the reflector stands out the most. Now imagine it was about 6 inches up and to the right where the reflection on the car is brighter. I think it would not stand out nearly as much. Maybe the reflector in it's current position is reflecting the same light as up and to the right about 6 or so inches.

Thanks for your pics, Pillzilla - looks very nice!
Took a few more pics with my BlackBerry while filling up with some Shell V-Power... Like holt said, the color does match perfectly fine and there are other factors which make the reflectors stand out. The main one probably being the fact that the reflectors protrude outwards and aren't flush with the surface. Looks strange in this shot, lighting probably has a lot to do with it and the way we perceive the reflector considering the fact that it's not flush and protrudes. Looks absolutely perfect here... Here as well... This one... well, I just felt like taking a shot of the best as she was getting her fuel... As a footnote, these are the LUX H8 bulbs which are a very nice fit for $25 shipped for this car (man where the yellow angel eyes ugly). I've been very busy but as promised will have a comparison of the new PIAA Extreme Lights vs. the LUX H8 kits this week 100%.

I can't say enough about Nate @ IND, prompt replies, great service, truly a pleasure to work with. They're sending me a second set so I can do a little comparison - great place to do business and their workmanship is rock solid.

Space Gray changes color quite a bit depending on how the light is reflecting off of it. Jerez does the same thing. The problem is that the reflector sticks out at an angle that isn't the same as the bumper around it, so it looks like a different color when there is direct light on it.
I tried clear and then smoked reflectors and thought they looked bad, so I returned the junky first set I bought and got a set from IND. |
