Which tint is better?
Been doing some research for window tint for my "new" 99 M3 convertible daily driver and not sure which of these are better.
I don't really care about how dark it is, (AZ it can't be that dark anyway) I'm more interested in how well it keeps heat out, since it sits out in 100+ temps for 3 months at a time. Also the AC doesn't work too well in the car yet. I've narrowed it down to two but I'm open to others. 3M Nano-Ceramic and Huper Optick (sp?). The stats I've found for both are: 3M Nano-Ceramic - Blocks 99% of UV rays, blocks 91% of infared heat Huper Optick - Blocks 99% of UV rays, block 98% of infared heat, blocks 70% of solar heat Also anyone know a place in Phoenix that'll tint front windows? I really don't even want "tint" as in dark, I just want a layer of UV protection on it. but anyway, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

ive read good things about the Huper Optick ceramic tints. Ive got ceramic, but it's not Huper Optic so I can't really give you an accurate assessment. Although, the ceramic I got seems to work very well.

I've had Formula1 Pinnacle Series (ceramic) installed on three cars and was very happy with the results.
I am still debating having the new M tinted because of the risk of scratching that I've read about on this forum.

Just got the FormulaOne Pinnacle put on. Looks great so far. Installation being a pain is just part of getting a tint done.
The Huper for me was a bit to bluish in it's final appearance. The FormulaOne was pretty much a straight forward dark appearance.

HO is bluish, but I love it on my current car, but it took three tries to get it right. It's thicker than most tint, but keeps the heat out without being overly dark. Make sure you have a competent installer.

even if Huper is blu-ish, is it very dark or light? what are the tint % available usually? Any got pics? I guess how blue, my car is silver with black convertible top, so like a light blue/doesn't look tinted wouldn't be bad, or really dark black tint would look nice too.
What do you guys recommend I do about the rear window? it's a 99 M3 convertible, so the back window is plastic. I'm assuming that's not tint-able, but not sure what my options are for that. Hey thx for the help guys, I'm going to go check and see what I can find about that Formula 1 stuff too.

HO comes in various shades. 30/40/50/60. If you want something darker (but it doesnt sound like it) you'll have to go to a different film. On my E46M3 I had 60% on the front, and 50% on all the sides with 30% on the moonroof. Kept that sucker nice and cool. Personally I think HO is more grey/green vs blue.
The ceramic I have on now is 65% but is slightly photochromatic and goes to 60% in the light and is a very light blue. It basically provides the same heat rejection as HO 50. You can see the tint on the main window here, but the smaller side one doesn't have it yet. |

OK so all of you guys with Huper don't have any tearing, holes, and other defects that I've read about in countless threads on this forum?
You can tint the E92 and it won't get messed up because of the tightness in the seal??? Would love to know about this...

I tinted my car with 3M ceramic and have CA issues. Have another car with CA and regular tint and zero issues. Ceramic tint was money down the drain to me; I'll never use ceramic again, especially with CA.

My tint professional swears by Huper. He says it's the best stuff he's worked with.

I used 3M Crystalline and I am really happy with it. It is thick though and hard to work with on the curved rear window
I had some very high quality moleskin added to the rear window wipers/seals to prevent scratching, so we'll see how that goes GL |

I had Huper Optik on my previous car and now on my E90 M3.
Excellent quality and works really well. You can get darker tint, certainly, and there are a few more new products on the market. It is expensive, though, and because of its thickness, it can be difficult to work with. It's been said many times before, but this is one instance where you really should not skimp: find the best installer in your area and pay once to have it done right. Regarding tearing or holes, I haven't seen these threads about HO in particular. (The tint itself is quite durable, six years total installed on my rides and nothing that can be blamed on the tint itself.) Perhaps you are referring to the scratched tint problem with e90s in general?
