...and another 135i order placed.

Hiya All,

About a week ago I finally gave into my dreams (newly single was a helping hand) and placed an order for an Alpine White 135i with Red Leather...6spd Manual.

Options: Electric Sunroof, HK Logic 7, Heated Seats and Mirror Package.

Now I have to wait until late October or early November.

Does anyone here know if this would be a MY10 or MY09, the car is confirmed for August build, I assume it will be an MY09.

Also I am considering the BMW Performance rear spoiler in CF and also the short shift with alcantara gaitor, any reasons why I should or shouldn't.

The stealership quoted $1k for tinted windows and gave me the excuse that regular tint does not work with the door seals. Can anyone point me in the right direction for quality but cheaper tinting.

Thanks all and looking forward to being "1" of the family.

1k for tint, what a rip off! I thought the $680 they charged in Brisbane for the tint was already a rip off. The only reason I went with them was for a few hundred dollars more, if there were any problems it would be a case of here's the car, fix it.

For 1k though, I would look elsewhere. Not sure where though as your in Melbourne.

My dealer quoted $600 for the tint, even that is expensive! So for them to quote $1000 is a complete rip off. I don't think I have seen a tint that was perfect on a 1coupe yet. The dots on the edge of the windows ruin any kind of tint.

So unless their fancy tint actually goes on fine over those dots, they're taking you for a ride.

Welcome, the wait will be a killer, worth it though,as regards tint,it may be too late now but i would have asked them to throw this in with the deal.
With the last five new cars i have bought i would do the final deal on price then say i will go ahead only if they throw in the tint,i did this with the 135 as well and have not had any sales people say no,this is a nice bonus as well as not having to go some where else,it is all done when you pick up the car and is covered by them for defects.

welcome to the forum! The wait is agonising, but when the car arrives it is all worth it!
An August build will be an MY09 car. MY10 production will start in September.

I thought I had the most expensive tint in Melbourne?? Which dealer said that?

I never have given that excuse with the door anyway. They said the film is expensive that is all... they use UVsheild down in BMW Melbourne and you can't buy that skin cancer council endorsed product outside stealerships.

Bib Stillwell South Yarra quoted me on the tint, yeah sadly I did the deal and then later realised I needed tint.

I'm planning to ask the stealership if they can show me a 1er Coupe with the tint done before I make my decision, well for $1k it better blow my damn mind.

personally i struggle to see how a window tint on a small coupe could cost $1000. Less than half of the should get you a quality tint, IMHO. Dealer always BS to justify their prices. Noting should go wrong with doing the window tint outside of a dealership, which only involves taking some door trim off.

I just ordered a 130i and got a similar quote. These people supply a number of the places that apply tint. If you check out the Carbon range it specifically says it doesn't block radio transmission. When my car arrives (also August build) I'll see what they want to do mine.
