Glorious 1 Series on Glorious car-free DVP today

A rarity, a virtually traffic-free DVP during rush hour this morning, blazing up to my sister's with my purring 128, tracking a 5 Series, with all the twists and bends of a racetrack.

What a pleasure, what a car. Amazing.

Happy Easter all you Jesus freaks!

I'm so jealous!

I thought I had an empty highway this morning only to come to a grinding halt as somebody decided that the center median was an appropriate place to park their truck on it's roof.

In the end it took 2 hrs for a 30 mins journey

I think I'll have to stop driving my 1 as it seems a little bit cursed lately.

I'm so jealous. I think I'm going to go to BMW Toronto tomorrow and test drive a 135i and 128i (in that order). If the 135i doesn't make my heart leap in comparison to the 128i then maybe I'll buy the non-turbo car and pocket the difference. If I fall for the power of the 135i then I guess it'll be bargaining/waiting for a good deal to come along...

After a year of lurking and saving money I'm getting antsy...you guys are all having fun without me

If you don't want to spend the money don't drive the 135i, for me thats the whole reason to get this car...just drive the 128i and if you like it buy it, if you drive the 135 you'll always feel like your missing something...at least thats my take!

Lucky bastard! I spent all morning changing tires on the 1 and the Miata and it was 11 by the time I got onto the DVP. By then everyone was getting out of church and the revenuers had their speed traps up all over East York and Leaside. *sigh* Maybe tomorrow morning. ;-)

Realize though that you're going to spend at least 10k for the same car (with a body kit and better engine/tires). I would take that money and put it into add-ons for the 128 (which is what I'm doing). I would love the 135 but REALISTICALLY I'm hardly ever going to be able to unleash its power anyway on these roads.

I hear ya supraking. Sorry OP for the threadjack. BTW I drove a 135i cab w/auto and a 128i with manual. 128i is plenty fast in the city, felt kind of sluggish on the highway. But I don't have enough skill driving a manual to keep the revs up safely so it might not have been the car's fault

135i was fast but the sport wheel was waaaay too thick for me, had to feather the throttle but even when I punched it it didn't seem as fast as the hype on this forum. Maybe there were too many cars on the road in my way for me to really let it unload? Even further validating your argument supra...
