Looking to buy a 135i today!
Hi guys, been reading the forum a bit over the last couple of weeks, first post...anyway I finally decided that the 135i will be my next car (if the deal is right), currently have an A3. Was almost going to get a new A4 but then realized I'm not ready for a big sedan yet and I'll live with the RWD in the winter.
Anyway wondering what kind of deal I can expect, anyone buy one in the last month? There's two deals in Ottawa plan to go to both, hoping to take advantage of some end of month quota's. Don't want to take delivery until end of June unless they are willing to payout my current lease that is due up then. It would probably be an order anyway. Thanks! |

I was dealing with Elite, and getting no love in the deal department. I even told the SA flat out that I would be requesting quotes from dealers in toronto and montreal, and he did nothing to try to earn my business. As it was, I got treated much better by SA's from other dealerships I contacted, and privately ended up taking over a lease...so for non-effort he got nothing.
I didnt deal at all with Otto's, so I cant comment on what they might do. It is in your best interests to contact the dealers in the GTA to help with your chase for the best deal. Best of luck to you. |

I know I was find that with Audi, wasn't too much room for a deal, called a T.O. Audi dealer, 50 bucks a month lower right off the bat!
I understand that an Ottawa dealer might not be able to do as good a deal as TO due to the volume but come on meet me half way! What kind of deals did you see when you called T.O. BMW? |

Not sure how well it works north of the border, but you should check out the thread on FAXing invoice+XXX offers to multiple dealers.
I FAXed 15 dealers within 75 miles and had three accept my offer within one hour, two more within a few days. Did everything by email until I closed the deal. It was really fast and easy and I got exactly what I wanted, both price-wise and option-wise. Good luck - you will love your 1er. |

"fax" "email" what are these made up words we don't have this "up north" !
Ya ideally I'd like to work with a local dealer, nicer when you go in for service... |

yeah sorry about the techno-lingo, forgot you guys communicate with snowballs!
The dealer I wound up with was about 50 miles away. Not that convenient, but doable. I suppose I could have taken the offer back to the local dealers and see if they would counter. |

I too will be buying a 135i, hopefully here in Ottawa, in early 2010, so I'd be very interested to know how you make out. I bought my last car in TO because of the better deal, but I also want to build a relationship with the local dealer this time around. My strategy will be to visit a number of TO dealers towards the fall of 2009, to see what kind of deals they are giving. Armed with this information and the invoice price I will then make an offer locally and see if they can match the best offer from TO. I've visited both Elite and Otto's and have had very pleasant experiences with the sales staff at both places, but I prefer Otto's due the location.
Good luck... you're making the right decision. (I used to have an A4, and the 135i is much more fun!). |

For the different dealers in the GTA there were different offers...nothing too spectacular, but many of them said when I was ready to talk seriously they would move the numbers a lot more. The guy at Elite was very nice, but said he couldnt do much better than MSRP, even after I started talking about invoice pricing and going elsewhere for the competition.
It took me about 10 minutes to throw together an email for a quote on my config, plug in the 15 or whatever dealers' email addresses, and start the bidding. I had thought about staying with a local dealer, but in the end my $ is more important. Next time they'll realize I'm willing to go elsewhere for a better deal, and perhaps they'll play ball too. FYI, everything I had researched ahead of time told me that profit on BMW was in the 8-9% range. I never confirmed it with a dealer, but its reasonable and will give you a good idea of how hard to push! |

Some of the GTA dealers have 08's left over and are looking to unload them, most were autos though. I already bought my 09 128i but what I did was shop around TO area to get idea what I was up against, did carcostcanada for the invoice price, and went from there. After hammering with my local dealer with deals I was getting in TO area I got 3% above invoice, $1k extra trade-in for my car than I thought I would get, and got free mats, ipod cable thrown in. So it is all about leverage and local competition. That is why BMW's can be had a better deal in GTA area compared to say out west.

Well it’s done, 135i Alpine white owner here (well end of June). Got 4% over invoice, they wouldn't budge beyond that, actually almost walked out. Hoping the interest rate will drop tomorrow on the lease, he seemed to think it might.
I gotta say he gave us the 135i to take out in a 6spd before we met since he was busy, holy crap if I had just drive that in the first place I wouldn't have been looking at any other car, the only time I drove a 135i before it was an auto, buying that car in an auto is a waste of money! |
