Speaker and AMP upgrade?

Hi people,
ICE experts are required here as I have no clue about what to get!

I am thinking I want to upgrade my system - my coupe only has the basic 4 speakers + subs under seats and I assume thers is an amp fitted somewhere. My bonus is coming soon and I think a budget of around £500 should be ample to do this??

- I'd like to upgrade the 4 mids and the 2 subs - the speakers must fit in the same sized holes.
- I'd like to add tweaters to the front and back so I know I need the trim for the front NSF 5133 719 9597 & OSF 5133 719 9598.
- And finally I'd like a new amp to drive all the new speakers.

1. The first question is will all this be do-able using the exisiting wiring?
2. What speakers should I get, I am after quality sound more than mega boom boom bass. Tweaters x 4, Mids x 4, Subs x2
3. What amp should be purchased to run this little lot? Do they do AMPs with built in equalisers, as I'd like to be able to set up the sound with more than just Treble/Bass that my iDrive offers...

I don't have a problem fitting the gear providing it all goes fits in the same places as the OEM equipment and the wiring doesn't have to be replaced...

thanks for your time!

I would check out www.babybmw.net . It is a UK based site and it has writeups with people who added the BMW tweeters to their factory systems.

In North America - all of our systems come with tweeters and the 10 speaker system. It is also highly possible that with the entry level stereo unit that you don't have an amplifier, making upgrading a different ballgame than the options that we have over here.

If you want to upgrade the underseat subs - go with the earthquake sws 8. They are a drop in fit. Check out www.caraudiocraze.com as they have excellent prices.

Good luck!

Excellent, thank you. I thought I did have an AMP but your right BabyBMW confirms I don't - I am just looking to replace the speakers and add tweaters!

So I'll go for the earthquake sws 8 subs - does anyone have any recommendations for mids and tweaters?

I was in the same situation, and bought the L7 tweeters and midrange.
Sws subs and blaupunkt pnp555 is the next upgrade.
