Aftermarket Ipod/usb

Ok,

I couldnt stand the wait... I found a car that met my every "need" except bt and ipod/usb (which actually was a pretty big want). I'd like stuff to work as oem as possible...

I am curious... ipod adapter thingy (cd changer) sounds pretty crappy... is there aftermarket adapter that will allow it to work like the factory option?

I've got the hi fi stereo etc... and it has aux in, but thats kinda janky.

I know this functionality is abundant with aftermarket head units, but I am not sure I really want to go that route at all. I like the stereo, would just like a bit more functionality and connectivity. Is there any hope?

I don't think you will find anything that works allows you to control the ipod from factory head unit.

I screwed up my order and left this option off as well. I have a cradle that charges the ipod, turns it on and off with the car, and has an aux out line that goes to the car's line in. Obviously you cannot control it from the head unit, but I think its the best I could do without getting a new receiver which I think would have looked tacky.

blah... I guess I am going to have to do the hack method use the bmw dealer installed option... hate the idae of using cd changer controls for it, but its probably better than simple line in.

I would recommend against the ipod adapter dealer install. I had it on my old Z4 and well it wasn't that great. You only get five playlists which for me is too little since I have over 20 gigs of songs.

I read about some boxes you throw inline with the most bus, and it lets you do all kinds of htings from the factory head unit... anyone heard of those? (I think it did ipod, usb, aux... but did them well.)

I've been waiting for the folks from this thread to hammer things out. They seem on top of things.
