Seatbelt gong resolved...

I dont know if this was mentioned, but if you let it chime for 2-3 minutes it actually stops and the seatbelt warning indicator goes away and it switches back to the temp and time.

Eh, letting it drive you insane for 2 -3 minutes isn't really a resolution anyway.

I lol'd cuz this comes up everytime. It's almost like a troll post now. Please read the other threads on the seatbelt. It's not what you think. :

Should I have to buckle up a 12 pack of Red Stripe to get it from the store to my house without listening to the gong? Or my laptop?

Put it in the trunk. You don't want it flying around in an accident.

The gong is overly loud and overly annoying and impedes the liberty to choose what goes where when. If you are a 'just follow the rules' person, fine, you can finish your nap now. If you are an out-of-the-box creative libertarian type who wishes for the government, and their insidious agent from Munich, to get out of their knickers then please participate in seeking solutions that circumvent their bureaucratic intent.

as some may recall post i had earlier about my chime changing pitch...

well, it finally happened --

the passenger seatbelt chime is gone
not sure how it did it
but, i'm still getting the changing pitch for the chime for the driver's seatbelt

as the other poster had mentioned, i too will not be taking it in to get fixed

As infrequently as someone might place a 12-pack of Red Stripe on the driver's seat, I don't see an issue here.

And, if for some reason a 12-pack of Red Stripe is being transported on a regular basis, I suspect that driving may not be such a good idea anyway.

And... why is the 12-pack on the seat? But, if it is... OK... just buckle the passenger belt at the time the 12-pack is the actual passenger. Is that so difficult?

Nothing about the OP complaints makes sense here.

Goodness, have we now gone to claiming that the life-saving benefits of seatbelts and airbags are an infringment of our personal liberties? Yikes, sometimes you can't win to win.

First of all, no one is saying that seatbelts and airbags are an infringment on our personal liberties, so stop tying to turn it into something it's not.

What we are saying is that an annoying gong, combined with an overly sensitive sensor in the passenger seat is an issue we'd rather not have to deal with.

How much Red Stripe I transport (or consume) really isn't the issue, as it was a practical example of the problem. My laptop bag causes the same issue, as does a sack of groceries. Having to buckle those things into a seat for a 15 minute drive through residential streets at 30MPH borders on absurd.

The bottom line is that the gong is pointless. If a person hasn't put their seatbelt on after a few seconds of it, there's nothing more the car needs to do, and making it go for 3 minutes does nothing but annoy people who already have their seatbelt on.

Here's a fun question: do motorcycles have a seatbelt gong?

Just something to think about...

What is really annoying are all these posts about the seat belts.

What next,

annoyed when you leave the lights on
annoyed that you have to start the car before driving
annoyed that you have to shift or put it in gear

For the life of me I can't understand what you are bitching about.

You are not supposed to carry anything other that a human in the passenger seat.

Your beer example is ludicrous. Enough already. This is so trivial I can't believe it gets so much attention.
