Mounting Valentine 1 Radar mount under Mirror
Anyone bought and tried one of these with their V1 Radar and the 1 Series Mirror. I'm sure its no different from the 3 Series but wouldn't mind finding someone that has measured and bought one.

Yeah, I thought the above-referenced mount would block my view of the road. I hardwired a high windshield mount, just below the driver's visor. It is almost impossible to see from outside the car. The high position is also reported to have the best radar detection (and worst laser detection).

I just hate suction cup mounts, at some point they always fail. What about removing the suction cup's and putting in place automotive grade double sided tape? will that hold the weight?

Has anyone come up with a radar detector mount for the 1er that:
1. Doesn't interfere with sunshade operation 2. Doesn't rely on suction cups 3. Doesn't interfere with rearview mirror adjustment? |

I did try the double-sided tape with a velcro attachment, and in our HOT Georgia sun the adhesive melted. (it looks like my link above to the pictures above has died now that we have migrated hosts)

Could be wrong and have emailed them While I too would like to see something like this for our cars at present I have it next to the rear view mirror drivers side, using the suction cups. And yes it does interfer with the visor. here are some gallery pics - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/album.php?albumid=1609

It needs a ball joint at the lower end.

I debated getting that mount too, but have seen it and feel it blocks too much visibility in the twisties. I'm debating doing a high install on the passengers side of the main unit with the concealed display permanently mounted somewhere in the drivers line of sight. I did this in my M3 and it was really nice and DL. I had a couple of friends that made me help them do the same for their detectors they liked it so much. I probably wont get around to it till the winter though.

thread revival....
Here's the non broken link... http://www.countryjoycrafts.com/Conn...arDetector.htm Has anyone tried/bought this mount yet? I need to get the detector off the suction cups and hardwired asap, I can't stand the cord. Or is there something out there that works better?

I used this mount with my Subaru for years, and it's excellent. By far the best mount I ever used. Install it once, get it adjusted, and you'll never touch it again.

I have used it for My GT-R and the Subaru as well. It works! The question is will it work in a 1er? They have a little section on he website regarding modifying to clamp area with a piece of hose...if I get the one off the Subaru, I'll check out what it may take to make it work.

I've sent emails to them too, they just said "try it and you can return it if it doesn't work" I measured my mirror and everything but just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.
