anyone have full aftermarket audio installed?
Hey guys
I am perched on ordering, and am considering some of the expensive options for audio. There's the prem audio +875, Ipod/USB +400 and Sirius +595. I have already had to turn away from some available cars because they don't have these options, and as I understand it, it's expensive / impossible to add them. Right now, I have a full audio system I was going to put into my mini, all new in the box. An alpine 9887, sirius tuner, two small planet audio amps (2*75 and 1*350), 1 set of CDT 5/12 component speakers, and I am considering either selling them and buying the BMW stuff, or skipping it, and trying to do an install. Has anyone done this yet? |

sirius you can add later. but the ipod not and the prem. not. the ipod is a waste, imo, as they all have an aux input... so what's the point, again, imo. the prem. is probably worth it if you don't feel like going crazy with the system.
stay tuned to this thread as alpinedb is getting one installed soon: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9009 |

My car is in the shop getting a huge system put in. I have the premium hifi and while it is good in some areas, it lacks in the performance and sound quality that I desire. I'm using most of my equipment from my previous car. When the system is done I am going to post pics. hehe.

I don't have the premium system but I just put in a 12" Image Dynamics D4.V3 sub, powered by the Image Dynamics Q 1200.1 Amp. Running 800 watts to the sub (it can be run at 1000). Waay more bass than I could ever need, currently running the gain on the amp at about 1/4 and it's still a lot of bass. Upgraded speakers / another amp will probably come down the line.

If you are keeping the BMW head unit, get the USB port. It is the new disk changer. $400 for almost unlimited amounts of CD quality sound available from your steering wheel controls. JMHO

Do you happen to have a black 135i? I finally saw another 135i on the road yesterday driving back from work on Rt. 30 nearby Sound Decision. Sound Decision does phenomenal work. They helped me out with my system in my old E36 M3.

Yeah, I would be interested to know. My bet is that you picked up some crazy noise that nobody could get rid of! I did opt to just get premium Hifi and live with it, I didn't want to chop up my new 1 :iono:
