Glowing praise from edmunds inside line...
http://blogs.edmunds.com/roadtests/c...at.2008BMW135i
" When the BMW 135 first arrived, I had zero interest in the car. Maybe it's BMW owners, then again maybe that's just a stereotype. I'm sure they're not ALL posturing with leased 325s they can barely afford while living in a small rented apartment on the very edge of the trendy part of town. Surely some BMW owners have a real love for the purity of their cars. And that's where the 135 comes in. At first, I couldn't imagine wanting, owning or even driving a car that' smaller than a 3 series. I may have even said out loud "what's the point?" Then I drove it - there is something so perfect about the 135i - the shifter, the engine, the clutch, the ride and it even has a nice clean look inside along with a very good stereo. Honestly, the 1 series may be the perfect sports coupe - it may even be the perfect car. Small, light, quick and fun - I stand corrected. Brian Moody, Road Test Editor "

That 'BMW-owner' stereotype is in the back of my mind whenever I am out-and-about, the reason I drive responsibly. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, I will recognize other drivers on the road, construction situations, etc.... BMW ownership could use some rehabilitation. Can anybody here tell me why?
That color combination works well. Pretty good pics in that review, one of the few image spreads which did not distort the proportions of the car. Good for them. "Honestly, the 1 series may be the perfect sports coupe - it may even be the perfect car. Small, light, quick and fun - I stand corrected." Do you think he likes it?

ZING! I'm not sure how applicable that would be to 135 owners, however. I just don't see this car catering to that demographic, but who knows. |

The 135i isn't the right car for a poseur. People laugh and say, "what is it, the poor man's BMW?" I say, "no, its the poor man's M3."

What he says about "BMW Owner Stereotype" is one of the reasons I've stayed away from BMW's. But, after driving the 1 on a closed course I couldn't help but love the car. It drove like nothing I've ever driven before. Ordered it 2 days later!
