How to locate the amplifier - pics attached
I plan on upgrading my amplifier and speakers in the car and locating the amp was the first task.
For the E82 coupe it is located under the left side (NA drivers side) carpeted trunk panel. Step 1 remove plugs on rear quarter panel trunk trim with trim removal tool. (purchased from canadian tire) Step 2 remove 2 screws from plastic around trunk latch. Remove the 2 plugs as well. Note that these 2 plugs are a different size than the trim pieces and should be kept separately. Step 3 Remove floor panel over battery and pull out trim piece. (Takes a bit of effort to wiggle out trim from around the bumper area.) Step 4 remove plastic tray over amp. Done. Attached is a link to e90post where someone mapped out the wiring diagram and where the speakers wires go http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...82&postcount=1 |

What amp and speakers are you planing to install?
I can se that you have the Hifi-System like me and and I'm planing to get a Alpine PDX-5 to run with with hifi-speakers in the begining. New speakers will be installed later. Want to see how the alpine plays with standard speakers. This is how it looks like in the hatch. |

Right now I have a rockford 4 channel that I am going to use to power the doors and the underseat subs. Will leave in the factory amp to provide fill for the rear. If I want more bass - I have a rockford mono amp and a DVC rockford sub from my old car that I will build into a custom box for the right rear wheel well cavity. Looks like it will be infinity's for the door at this point too.
You may want to upgrade the door speakers if you are adding the new amp. I think that it will make a world of difference - not really liking the current sound out of the factory tweeters. If you get a chance - update this thread or another one with your install pics as it would be a big help to see how you plan on doing yours. |

Is this the Premium Hi Fi Logic 7 amp or does the regular audio have an amp as well?

Ah, Euro spec. I'll have to dig into my 1er and see if it has an amp for the US spec standard stereo.

Good thread. It shows the hi-fi TOP (logic 7) amp uses the MOST bus. I need to see if I have the fiber cables pre-wired for that amp. I successfully added SIRIUS to my MOST bus and maybe I can do the same thing with the double powered amp.
