Seems slow..
OK guys serious dilemma here. May sound weird. When I first got the car, I was blown away with its speed. Now either something has mechanically happened to it, and its now slower.. or I have somehow got used to the speed and its no longer enough..
Anyone else feel like this? Is it really that pronounced.. that fast? 500km in and I could swear its slower :P...

You're probably just getting used to the power. The fix is of course easy. Start modding!

Did you put cheap gas in it?
The dealer may have put cheap gas in it too if they gave you a complimentary fill up...the ECU learns over time to dial the power back if it detects the fuel octane is too low for a prolonged period. The car may have started to feel slower as you burned through that first tank? |

Mine has felt even faster the more miles I put on it... it's easy to figure out.. have someone time you with a stop watch... run it 0 to 60 a cpl times..

Silly as it may sound, if you notice significant speed reduction, take it to your dealer. This has happened to a few 335i's, and the fix was a new turbo.. Can never know for sure without diagnosis.

I would tend to agree with this. If you've got a good feeling that it's not just you getting used to the car, then something may be wrong. If thats the case, its at least worth the $200 diag fee if it turns out to be nothing.

In my opinion (and this works with anything, not just cars), if you notice something...there's something TO notice. Our senses and eyes are trained to except daily routines and when something changes it even in the slightest way, we notice. So...while you may get used to the power you only notice a difference when there's something different going on!
Just my two cents. Or sou or cenne or whatever you freaky half french people call it up there. |

You probably got use to the power as I am pondering Dinan myself now. Dan has a good point, if you genuinely feel the car is having problem then take it in.

I, too, side with the becoming accustomed-to the power/torque theory, I did the same thing, was out of the car for two weeks as it has been raining here in the PNW, got back in 'the thing' today, clearly, it is not down on power, oh no. Your car is quite likely just fine, perhaps you should be looked at.:biggrin:

My car definitely feels slower having taken it on the 'Ring. And its not because it actually IS slower, its just that once you've taken your ride out for a flogging, EVERYTHING feels slow.

You know what.. I just might. Today I started it and it felt like it was going to shake itself apart.. Sort of like when only half of your spark plugs are firing (you get that deep, rumbling sound). Power was essentially gone. Fixed by restarting the engine (do 135s run windows?)
