Everything I've read about the Plaid says the brakes are woefully inadequate. I bet those brakes are literally cooked after 1 lap at the Ring.

Pretty sure this was run with their new ceramic brakes option.

I think it has the track package which is an option now. And it was in track mode which is always available via the screen. So basically better brakes and using settings in software that are advantageous for track use.

It is a Model S equipped with new track package. Carbon ceramic brakes, R-compound tires, lightweight wheels.

Porsche has a high performance tri-motor Taycan coming as well.

It's the car that beat the Porsche Taycan turbo S at the Nurburgring and now holds the record as the fastest production EV at that particular track.

I raced a Model S Plaid a few days ago and he stomped me in the Cayenne S. Amazing acceleration the Plaid has. 10mph rolling start, evenly lined up. It was impressive.

Would still take the Cayenne for my use case.

Not in the market for an EV sport sedan but if I was I'd take the Taycan over the Tesla. It's a better looking car IMHO.

you'd have to get the Turbo S if you want to come close to the performance of the Plaid tho...and spend about $90k more for the privilage of the slower car...

I'd much rather have the MSP and spend the left over $90K on a used 991 or new Cayman

A couple of things, my post was a hypothetical. I have zero interest in owning any EV now or in the foreseeable future, if I was in the market that might be different, but then really why do any of us buy any of the cars we have, certainly not for saving on MSPR, enthusiasts buy cars that speak to them, if were just talking economics then I'd get the cheapest econobox I could find.

I think there are enthusiasts to whom $90k matters as well as enthusiasts to whom it makes no difference. I know I would be thinking about the $90k price difference.

Exactly.

The gold standard for performance is the model s plaid.

It ruined the car community which is why we get the comments we do on this forum lol

People hate something that’s so great Lmaoooo

This. Absolutely.

I've always believed that if Teslas were quick-ish, they would be more broadly appreciated by the lower to mid-tier car communities. But because they downright embarrass everything, it's a threat to the ego.

People move goal posts when trying to spew their argument about ev but it’s laughable.

The car is a milestone in the automotive industry.

Imagine a family sedan that’ll run 9.2, silent as mouse, can seat 5, awd, that costs 108k.

Meanwhile people are destroying warranties, ruining oem specifications just to run a 10. While being obnoxiously loud, annoying, spending way more on gas, and possibly blowing your engine doing so.

I think our future is in good hands.

I'd like to thank Tesla for poking the automotive industry, providing a catalyst for power levels and performance by traditional manufacturers we would not have seen otherwise. Their cars are still ugly AF. The Model S had decent styling when the prototype dropped over 14 years ago.

But it’s boring as shit, there’s no exhaust note, and the interior is a pile of trash. Anything 0-60 in under 4.5 seconds is more than fast enough for the street. Every car will be capable of 0-60 in 2 seconds in a few years. Considering how terrible people are at driving, that’s not a good thing. At least the Taycan feels like you’re driving a sports car and has a nice interior, though I still hate all of the screens in these things.

I totally get that. I’m not saying the plaid has better driving dynamics than a Porsche. Porsche is one of the best at that even though I have very very little experience with those cars.

But not everyone drives the backroads, or take their car to the mountains, or to the track.

The car that appeals to the masses that want to go insanely fast with the confidence that essentially no one beat you, is the model s plaid.

There's a reason why 0-60 and N ring times sell cars... because people are stupid and don't know what they really want.

It's just the lowest common denominator between two different cars... reviewers and data gatherers can't put a number on feel and personal preference.
