How you guys liking the Ferodo DS3.12?

APR is pushing on this pad and on paper it looks much better than the 1.11. Anyone get a chance to run these yet?

On my third set 3.12 and love them, but can’t really compare to 1.11 as I’m running those on the rear. If you’re not running the 9668 caliper, pad life may be an issue. I’m running a 25 mm pads and they don’t last forever, evidence - on my third set

Holy shit, that's brutal. I'm on 9660 so only 18mm.

Wear significantly faster than 1.11?

Can’t really compare to 1.11 as I have those on the rear. Also, been quite a few track days, including a Laguna Seca, which is straight up brutal on brakes.

How does your splitter look after the corkscrew?

Are 3.12s in stock anywhere in the 18mm thickness? I have 9660s as well and wanted the Hawk equivalent (DTC-80s), but they’re always on backorder.

Also, are you running any front cooling? I snapped off a brake scoop and that corner ended up wearing much faster. I now carry spare scoops just in case.

I know you’re not in the US, but Clark at Apex performance has always been super helpful.

Not running any cooling at Southern California tracks, seem to be easy on brakes when compared to Laguna Seca.

Temperature strips are showing moderate temperatures so far:

Clark is who I bought my brakes from initially. I’m on new DTC-70s, so maybe I’ll give him a buzz when they get a little thin. I only have three more track days planned, though, so I might not need them until 2022 (because no racing for me next year).

I’ve got strips as well and have yet to even pop the 170 indicator, even after thrashing the brakes at Monza. I use cooling everywhere, though.

Are these good to swap into the OEM calipers or do you think they are overkill or might wear the stock rotors. I'm still on street MPS4S's as well and tracking about once a month or so (pre-covid).

Probably going to be overkill for the stock calipers and suspension. Stock calipers work reallllly well with the DS1.11, you can brake pretty dang late with this setup.

That's what I figured. DSUNO seems to be a good in-between and wear a little better according to what I have read. Is it overkill as well for my setup?

If you haven't run the DS1.11 yet I'd start there. DS1.11 will actually wear at slower rate then DSUNO. Ferodo says they about equal on rotor wear. Also great that you can go from DS2500 to DS1.11 without having to bed things in!!!

Would I have to bed going from OEM to either of these?

I went from oem to DS2500 before swapping on the DS1.11 and don't recall having to do so but I would definitely put them on a day or two before and give them a good few hard 80-20mph brake checks before just to make sure.

None, I took off the dust shield though and the temps seem to be a bit lower but I'll know after Limerock this weekend if it doesn't rain.

They are incredible. I am using 3.12 front and rear with the full AP Racing kit. I can't get them to fade no matter how hard I try lol. Great bite and great modulation.

I know I may be the only one... but I was disappointed with AP’s push toward Ferodo DSUNO pads on my full AP BBK. The pads required too much pedal effort no matter how hot I got them. Went back to HAWK DTC-70s and all is better! Just because AP pushes a pad doesn’t mean they will be what you want. Pads are such a personal preference and there is a reason why there are so many options out there!

Somethings wrong here, pads required too much pedal effort? DSUNO? Maybe it’s how you bed them.

Most people find this pad overpowering most R-comps and certainly street tires. More appropriate with full slicks.

But as you say, plenty of options out there and to each his own

Maybe they were too much for Toyo RR's. 1.1G under braking makes me think the tires were keeping up though. Had a couple of people drive them that have 1.11's and said they were fine and worked better than there setups. I wonder what they would say if they drive it with the DTC70s?

Bed in? How does everyone bed track pads in? On the highway? I just brake extra hard the first session and then just drive normally from then on.

Toyo RR would be an appropriate match for DSUNO or DTC70 (although I have no experience with hawk). Hawks literature shows DTC70 with highest coefficient of friction and temp tolerance in their lineup. The other pad that I’ve tried is performance friction PFC08, although I hear the 11 is better.

Bed in is getting a transfer layer onto the rotor that matches the pad. The DSUNO experience sounds consistent with this - on my car with similar DS3.12, it wants to put you through the windshield on first brake - took some adjustment.
