Bootmod3 MHD Burbles
Debating between getting Bootmod3 or MHD for my first tune on my M4.
Are the burbles on Bootmod3 enabled on each OTS map, or are they a user adjustable setting with the ability to enable or disable? I know MHD is a user defined setting whether they are enabled or not on any map, but have no experience with Bootmod3. Thanks |

Some of the map features provided: - Map Customization through Map Editor - Top speed limiter removal - Higher rev limiter - Exhaust burble (GTS, custom, aggressive mode), switchable with the steering wheel controls in efficient vs. sport mode And many more. |

1. For BM3 Stage 0 maps (like CS, GTS), will the OTS and Original setting be the same? 2. If I take the CS map, and then edit the burble sound tables and create my own custom tune. - OTS will mean what was in the original CS (before edits) - Original will mean new values as per edited tables Is this correct? Thanks.

Based on my understanding, your situation of flashing a custom table would result in "original" reverting back to the initial table configuration, "OTS" would go to the PTF team optimized sound, and "custom" settings seem to persist with whatever was saved as your last custom configuration. Meaning - you flash your own redesigned table and "original" burble will be whatever your table dictates. Then, you tweak the "custom" burble sliders in the tune configuration page and flash it. After a few days, flash back to OTS, OEM, or original. If you then go back to "custom" in the burble configuration, it will have the same slider values as those you last saved when flashing the "custom" configuration setting for the tune. Quote:
Ran MHD+JB4 BMS BEF for several months prior to that (helped test and ran several iterations of the RACE BEF map); initially had only the JB4 for almost 2 years before adding MHD. Each of the configurations has its strong points and letdowns, and it would be difficult to go through all of it. My best analogy is this:
As far as major aspects of each:
A caveat to the customer service aspect - Terry @ BMS is the standard in my opinion. I've (on multiple occasions) emailed him with near-immediate response. This includes close to midnight while on the side of the road with a drivetrain error; response within a few minutes that contained a revised BEF map to upload and try (which worked perfectly)

Mhd is super easy to use with an Android tablet. You don't need WiFi access like you do with Bootmod3. Price is much better and they just had a new update that basically has everything Bootmod3 offers, including the GTS start up roar. I have used it with my previous 335i and my current F80 M3.

All nonsense....ran JB4 with back end flash on 93 & e85 mix big boost..... 24-25 max psi for a year then BM3 stage 2 tune with over run for same 93 and E85 mix and never a O2 sensor problem. So that is 2.5 years use and on stock engine and 520 rwhp and never a O2 failure or error code.
Or maybe I was a unicorn..... |

Just a heads up if you use the boost by gear function. My experience is that the MHD boost by gear is less harsh and more refined overall. I had some weird noise and jerks with the bm3 boost by gear but immediately tried mhd after and it was smooth as butter.
