Your Opinion of Sprint/Nextel...

Looking to try out Sprint/Nextel's unlimited plan for $99. I have an AT&T Blackberry and am happy but switching to Sprint would save me around $45 monthly.

I have heard some horror stories regarding Sprint's billing and customer service. Apparently, new executive leadership is making strides to correct these issues. What has been your experience with Sprint? If you are in SoCal, please say so. Thanks a lot.

I've been using Sprint ~8 years. I'm shopping for a new carrier now.

Crappy reception. Why should I be charged for roaming in my house? Because lots of other people are using their phones at the same time?!

My Samsung phones from Sprint have held up very well.

I have been with sprint for eight years and will continue since they offer the cheapest plans and I do not have problems with their coverage/reception. I have 5 lines currently on their 3000 minute talk/message/data with N&W starting at 6pm free. Also get a 10% corp business discount monthly.

Live in OC and get pretty good reception with my Sprint Samsung. Nothing to want me to change carriers so far.

Do yourself a favor and do not switch to sprint. They have horrible customer service and have repeatedly hung up on me when they "couldn't further assist me" I got so mad I really wanted to petition outside their store for overcharging me 240 dollars this past year . Apparently I have internet service on a phone that doesn't use the internet and I was still being charged with it. They had proof of me not using the internet because there was no KB usage and still they did not refund my money.

Please do not take the sprint route. You'll regret it later if you have any problems with the phone or your plan.

LOL at everyone complaining, Every carrier is about the same really. I worked for AT&T wireless, Cingular, and now for Sprint. Hell I've had Sprint when I was working for Cingular. It's been 8 years now and I wouldn't do business with anyone else. Plans are cheaper, Coverage its good for me. Sara- Sprint doesn't make the phones, think about it. Your getting the same phone you would with AT&T or anyone else. Blackberry supplies everyone with the same equipment. Neurorad- Try switching your settings or you rate plan. All the rate plans now come with roaming included.... it's a no brainer. Or go into your settings-roaming-then set it to "Sprint only". Problem solved....
SekZi- You got some bad Customer service reps, it happens. Trusted me this goes on at every carrier. You just cant give up, call back ask for a supervisor and then ask for theirs if they wont help you. To the original poster, just ask people around you what experiences they've had. That would be your best bet. You will then find out what kind of support you have there in that area.

I think every carrier has its good customers....and bad customers!

I wouldn't do AT&T or Cingular.......they have no service where I live......but 1 block down...it's fine.

I'm not paying for ROAMING in my house.........ridiculous!

The roaming thing happens to everyone. Either they have no service or their roaming. It's like that with every carrier for some people. You can call in and they will credit it, it's not a big deal..... you just need to call in and hope you get someone that knows what their doing.

Some people have some plans that are so good they don't want to switch. Most of the time those plans don't include roaming.

I have the 99 plan. After all the crap it is about 130 each month. No problems with the service. Love the LIVE SEARCH on my Samsung. GPS pin points you then you just say "steak house" or "Auto Zone" and it finds what is closest listed first. Map, phone and directions. Very handy for me.

Customer Service is a different story. I usually get someone who can barley speak English after waiting for god knows how long. I bitched pretty good about a billing error and they paid for that month and credited the new phone amount. That shut me up.

Been with Sprint for 10+ years. Pretty poor customer service but its getting better. Coverage is pretty good and data better than most.
Have i thought about switching carriers in the past? yes, but i always end up back at sprint because they offer the most and best plans. do you occasionally get a dumbass CR on the phone? yes. But sometimes you get good ones too.
Recently got the Instinct and its a very cool phone. In fact, Im finding that i like it better than the iphone which some of my friends have. With some updates and apps which should be coming out soon, i think the Instinct is going to really shine.

We have been with Sprint 10+ years and we have had no problems what so ever. We travel a lot to all points in the US and are very pleased with coverage. Their customer service requires a lot of patience and understanding but the wait times are getting shorter. I have only had to call on a discount or a question maybe once a year and I always cringe. Good luck

I work in the cellphone industry (not for Sprint) and have been with Sprint for 10+ years now... Comparing Sprint to the rest of the national providers, they offer one of the best pricing structures. For example... you can get unlimited everything for under $100 a month!

As far as performance... It is really based on the device that you are using.. I have used cheap Nokias in the past and have had horrible reception quality. Currently am using a Palm TREO and have no problems with dropped calls or poor reception at all. I travel all over the US for business and never run into dead spots.

I also prefer their data services over any other provider... Sprint relies heavily on their broadband network therefore it has some of the highest speeds possible... more towers and less customers than Verizon allows much more bandwidth per customer and a better all around data speeds!

Also... Although their customer service used to be poor it has become alot better.

I have used Verizon, AT&T, and TMobile in the past... none of them worked as well for me as Sprint. I highly recommend trying out their service.
