new 135i owner

I just picked up my first 135i on new years eve. Its a 2009 140k with M package. Has a few upgrades done about 15K ago. JB4, Arm motorsport chargepipe, downpipes, tial and 5" intercooler. The car came with almost every receipt from new. Few downfalls no cold weather package ( but this can be added fairly easily from the quick reads i did). My idrive doesn't seem to support bluetooth what are my options on intergration of my iphone. Other then that its in pretty good shape

New Adoption

Welcome to the Club. I have a 2010 135/M package with a Stage II Dinan upgrade. I bought mine in 2012 with 24k on the clock. The most important note to you would be, I too have a high mileage vehicle now. I just rolled 144k. No major issues to report with original turbos and normal maintenance. Absolutely, one of the most fun cars I have ever owned of the 30+ cars I have owned over the years, according to my insurance carrier.
Many happy miles of fun driving.

Welcome. For Bluetooth does your phone pair for calls?

For music I use Tune2Air aka Bovee. Here is a thread that will help

Welcome to 1Addicts!

The early 135's have an ancient bt integration set up, not just currently, but even then (2009), and is only used for phone calls.

For your apple stuff you can do pretty well with the cable and jacks under the arm rest if you don't mind connecting every time.

For BT integration you need to drop the $89 for the Tune2Air WMA3000B USB / AUX connector so you get steering wheel controls & such.

If I buy this kit will I be able to play SirrusXM / Pandora, etc. through my car stereo? My car does not have Idrive. But I do have the USB/Aux. option. I do have a new Iphone Xs also.

yes... seems like this will work fine. I plan to order one today, but not sure which one to get. The USB only version or the one with aux. plug & USB? I do not have Idrive if that makes a difference. I also read your other post about the COMBOX and entered my vin on the bimmer.work and will not work for me. My vin is VF23523. I'd rather use only the UBD unit if possible.

I've got iDrive, so taking that into consideration...

If you have the steering wheel controls and have the usb & jack under the arm rest, I'd get the WMA3000B USB / AUX connector which used the usb to transfer the control data and the jack for audio.

Only thing I wish it did was pass song details but can live without considering the great sound quality and endless library from spotify and pandora

I'm beginning to suspect this will be the thing that pushes me over the edge of installing a sub...

It depends on what system/options you have. Take a look at the thread I linked. You need to determine what you have. My 135i used the usb only. Others need the Y cable (usb & headphone jack).

I read that post. The bimmer.work site does not work for me. It keeps saying something went wrong. Is there another site to check my options.

Hmm... a lot of the ones online seem to not be working. Try this one.

https://vindecoder.eu/bmw

Also can you listen to music using just the USB connection or do you need to use the Y cable?

Good morning folks. So it seems i need to chase gremlins in this car. Good news is its going to BMW (for airbag recall) at that time my friend who is a tech can run a full scan check the car over next Monday. But i am getting a surging when getting heavy on the foot. I have ordered plugs should be here this weekend i hope so i can do them. i pulled two codes yesterday 29f4 and 29f5 but after reading this is cause by the cat less down pipes, cleared them and they haven't come back yet. Then this morning i got on it a little and threw a 3F?? code said engine malfunction. I cleared it via JB4 and it did not come back.
This is strange when i test drove the car it had been sitting for a bit and it ran great no surging just endless power on both test drives on different days. I did pull some codes after test drive and spoke to my tech and cleared them then drove again no issues.

i know there many threads on these issues and i will continue to keep reading

I can play music with just the USB. I used to load music onto a flash drive and plug it in.
That site works but wants a fee..... it's too bad that bimmer.work is not working.

Thanks. I just don't want to go through the hassle of ordering the wrong one and have to return it.
I did used to use a USB flash drive in the USB slot under the arm rest. So I'm wondering if the one you suggest (with the Y-aux plug) will work anyway. The other unit without the y-connector is sold out on the website but can be preordered.
This isn't a simple as I thought.

If you can play with just the USB then you can get the one with just the USB. It might be sold out though according to their website.

What's up with bimmer.work?
It appears to be returning my details right... just a quick check, but looks ok
