First impressions...

New X5 collected from Dundee mid June, now almost 6000 miles in.

Impressed with the space and versatility the car offers, and the driving position is good, visibility is great from the higher position.

6th and 7th seats have been used a couple of times for various passengers.

So, lots of positives.

Didn't ever think there would be negatives with it being a BMW, but, feels nowhere near as well put together as my F10 that was sent back with 55k miles on it :-(

Constant rattling from the back, which I think is the parcel shelf, and an occasional one in the front passenger footwell area that we can't find.

Various other small squeaks that I just didn't experience with the F10. Wife has a 4 series with 14k on it, thats absolutely solid and has no unexpected noises within it at all.

Love the car, but not sure I will have another after this one, and will likely revert back to a 5 series.

Picked up my 18 X6 in early July as well)) same exact feeling regarding downgrade in quality and increase in interior noises. Especially felt after 2 years of fully enjoying my 4 series gc. Had to get a bigger car as we could barely fit a carseat behind in my 4 series. It was more fun to drive as well, ehh.
PS 4 series was built in Germany, all Bmw suvs are built in US..

this is the quality/tolerance difference between us built n german built. all x series n z4 feels cheaper in quality. same applies to mb us built vs german built.

Garage List
The rear rattle is probably the tailgate. Occasionally if the rear seat belts are not straight and flat they will rattle as well.

For a long time I had a E60 and E83 together and the difference in amounts of small rattles was night and day. I think it has to do with how big the cabin is in an X with trunk being open to passenger space. If you close the third row and use the cargo cover, it will become less obvious.

Then I had the F01 and F15 and its still a night and day difference in all the sounds. But, my dad has one of the new lexus SUVs and they are so quiet so I am not sure why BMW cannot step its game up.

I suspect the cargo cover is whats making the noise. Going to take it out to see if the rattle goes away.
