Automatic seat adjustment between driver profiles

My wife and I both drive the car. When I open the door with my key in the pocket, the seat will adjust to my preset position. But when my wife open the door with her key in the pocket, the seat doesn't adjust. It's the correct profile linked to the key. She can press memory seat button to recall the position. What's missing in the profile setup? Thanks.

Check the settings in idrive for her key. Each key requires you set up all the idrive settings separately. Maybe it's not activated for that key? I cant recall if the option selected was seat recall or if it was last seating position. Either way, check idrive settings with her key in the car...if the option is there you should be able to find it. Otherwise, I'm not remembering the setting correctly.

However, to avoid the separate key issue, it's easy just to preset each of your seat positions to 1 and 2 on the same key.

If I recall correctly, you need to use 2 drivers' profile from the iDrive and assign your key to profile #1 and her key to profile #2. Then under each profile setting, tag the option to remember the last seat position.
Make sure only one key is on the person opening the drivers door and the seat, steering wheel and mirrors should adjust accordingly.
The drivers' profile screen should be opening on iDrive right away by default after unassigned key is detected, which is annoying, so most people just disable this option. You can recall it in the settings, if needed.

At least in the US it's doesn't use the preset position, but the last position. If that makes any difference.

I had this same problem with my 2016 X5 50i. I know that these will remember the last seat position. I wonder if when your wife's profile was active, you were in the driver's seat and adjusted it. That was one problem that happened to me. Also, I now have the active profile set to display on start up. I just like to see that, indeed, it is my profile when I am driving and my wife's profile when she is driving.

All I can say is stay with it. Keep trying different settings, review the owner's manual very carefully, be patient as you try new settings, and you will eventually learn the logic of this feature (which I really like a lot).

Incidentally, my wife's car is a 2015 Z4. This feature works perfectly in her car. We never had an issue with this feature in her car. Still can't understand why her Z4 works perfectly and my X5 does not. Maybe it is a built in Germany thing (oh, and her headlight auto hi-beam feature works perfectly as well, my X5 is a little slow going to and from hi-beams).

You need to check the "remember the last seat position" in iDrive for the car to return to your wife's seating position when she uses her key to unlock the door.

Thanks, you guys are amazing. It's so hard to find this option. It's not under 'Vehicle Setting'.
