Sometimes I envision a world of the future where most of the streets are in a gridlock because of all the stalled EVs that ran out of juice.
Except there is no magical jerrycan you can bring to the nearest gas station, fill it back up and keep on going... |

Whenever I'm up in Vancouver the only Teslas I see are driven by those rich Asians, and Teslas aren't even very popular with that crowd compared to Bimmers Mercs and Porsches. I'd imagine it's the same deal toward Toronto.

I live in the suburb of Vancouver and this is one of those places where young people move to have children and start families. Mostly blue collar, the demographic has discovered pickup trucks with extended cabs as minivan replacements. So every bro going to a worksite in the morning can feel manly and tough, as opposed to driving a Sienna or some such.
And after work their wives can bring all the diapers they will ever need from a local Costco and still look like cool chicks that they undoubtedly are. Literally 90% percent of traffic in the morning are trucks. It will be a VERY, VERY, VERY long time before I see more EVs around here... unless they start selling electric pickups. And they would have to figure out how to make them super noisy as well as able to expel clouds of black smoke at will. Then, sure, I can see them becoming mainstream. It might start a shift, but it's like when they jack up the price of cigarettes and booze, people bitch and moan but keep drinking and smoking. If they priced fuel at $3/litre I wouldn't sell my cars and go buy EV's, I'd just bitch and moan.....oh and drink my expensive, over-taxed booze.
