BMS CanFlap clears dp's cel?

I know that canflap can clear cel, but do I have to clear it every time I start the car? And is there any instruction for cel clearing?

That mode for auto clearing CEL was recently removed from their products. One reason why I will be getting rid of my jb4 soon.

But the older ones will still do this right. Meaning if you bought one few months ago the auto clearing should work? Any idea which firmware on did they remove this feature?

I don't think so, they literally force you to get it updated if you're running it on older version. I believe it will stop working if you try to keep it on an old software. I could be wrong

When'd this happen? I quickly looked on n54tech and didnt see anything that stood out. I'm not running the 1.7v firmware and have zero problems nor anything related to prompt me to upgrade firmware

Considering pulling out my JB4 as well. Just today I got the CEL on my dash, even though I have not upgraded the iOS app because of this change. I wonder how this all of a sudden started? May be moving to BM3.

This was going to be the combination I was going for next on my mod list. Hopefully this isn't the case... why the hell would they remove this feature on the JB4; or does this only apply to their can flap modules? This would seriously hurt their sales and diminish the resale value for those looking to unload theirs second hand.

How do they force you to update it? I've got my BMS CanFlap plugged into my car full time. I use it mainly to open and close the valves. Works perfectly. Never had to update it at all.

It's on JB4, not sure about CANflap module (I have one of these on my X6M). Apparently it's due to new EPA (?) guidelines. I think they had to do it to continue selling in the US.

That feature was blocked from USA use as they want to distance themselves from people trying to do things that are against federal emissions laws, and are working towards 50-state legality for all of their tuning products requiring its removal.

Right now Dinan offers the only 50-state legal solution for the S55... Looks like BMS is feeling the heat?

Coincidentally I read Cobb and other flash tuners were raided by the EPA. Won't be long before BM3 is on their radar. Post carefully out there! Big brother reads the forum.

This still doesn't make sense how it will stop working if you don't update the firmware.

Yes, very strange. Seems there’s some communication going on with the app in the background.

Or if you dont use the JB4 app. I believe anytime there is a large change in the settings of the JB4, like updating parameters in Map 6 or meth settings, it has to "reflash" the information on there and you'll see both the turn signal arrows blink twice.

Also if you use the windows program, I wonder if you can use an old version just incase the program is running some sort of backend comms.

I'm sure we can all get around this but we need to understand how either the JB4 Mobile or laptop program is communicating with the JB4.

For those that dont know. The CARB shit on them fining them 91K or roughly $344 per unit sold with a reported count of 266.

So I can see why Terry wants to mitigate the risk.

Thanks for locating and sharing....
Its nice to see at least Terry is making an effort to work with the state gov't as well as still providing the exempt state and out of country the full options.

With JB4 this makes sense but a simple BMS canflap never connects to online unless you take it out and connect it.

Well is the JB4 going to sell for less now that a key feature has been deleted, not to mention Map 2...?

Why buy this over Stage 1
