Question M Performance Exhaust installation question

So my MPE was installed already on my M4 ZCP in only a few hours so I asked the parts department sales man, that was fast, did you finish all the cutting and what not that quickly? He said there is no cutting involved, it is a bolt on.

Now I am not sure what to tell him but I read hear that some part has to be cut or something and that means after installing the MPE, you cannot go back to the stock exhaust without re-adding that part, I forgot what was the part name that had to be cut for the MPE to fit, can you guys tell me exactly what usually has to be cut or how it is fitted so I can call them and explain this. I didn't get my car yet I just wanna make sure that the MPE is properly fitted and gives the sound that it should

Now I remembered, CanAutM3 was the one who posted this in one of my old threads, I need to speak to the person who installed the exhaust to see how they installed it

Well, that part department sales man doesn't know what he is talking about, because the stock exhaust does need to be cut to install the MPE. It's even in BMW's own install instructions and the MPE comes with a paper template to tell you where to cut. That being said, it does not take a long time to cut the exhaust. It is also possible to go back to stock by simply clamping the two cut sections together.

Further, reading your OP, you might also be misinterpreting what "cutting" means. The part that is cut off is the entire exhaust section that is replaced by the MPE.

Thank you very much. I just spoke with the technician who installed the exhaust himself and he told me off-course they had to do some cutting (then started talking technical stuff which I don't understand about where they cut and how the installation process went) as that's as per BMW guidelines to install the exhaust. Now I feel relieved. He also told me that the car sounds very close to the M4 GTS that he has seen a while back because of the competition pack coupled with the MPE! I am so excited to receive the car soon!!
