Remus Midpipe install with ZCP exhaust issues and completion notes
Tonight I finally installed a Remus midpipe on a ZCP, I had a few issues that I worked through that will help others.
Lining up the stock exhaust with the Remus midpipe is a challenge both pipes come in at an opposite angle and because the need to fit inside reducers it's makes it a challenge. If they were the same diameter there would have not been issues. The Remus is 5mm larger making it a challenge. To get them to fit inside each other I used a ratchet strap to close the gap between the Remus pipe which eventually worked out. See photos below. Lining up he downpipe flanges was a real PITA it fits and new gaskets don't help at all. Pry bars and lots of swearing were used. I found it easier to take off the downpipe flange torx bolts which the top one later on becomes difficult, on a lift it wouldn't be an issue but I did this one on the floor. Now the only thing that I believe is a potential future issue with the midpipe is that it pushes on the rear muffler (it seems to be 1-2" too long but maybe it's me as I didn't take a before and after). Photos below will show you what I mean. It's sticks out of the bumper about 1" which may infact be stock but I can't confirm, all I know is it looks like it's pushing on the rubber hangers. |

Congrats!
How does it sound? I recommend just cutting 1-2" if you do not like the way it looks
