Alignment specs
Hello all, I just put on some new tires and will be needing to get an alignment. The shop I'm going to says they can align the car to the specific specs if I would like. This is a far cry from the alignments I've gotten from Firestone and town fair. My car has stock msport suspension and 245/35/18 tires all around. I mostly do a lot of straight line accelaration and very occasionally take a fast corner. I am wondering if anyone has recommendations on alignment specs I should use for best tire life and driving experience? Thanks in advance!

Mostly straight line huh? I'd suggest maybe:
-1.5f camber, 0.0f toe. -1.0r camber, 0.2r toe-IN per side. If you have trouble clearing the fenders, add more negative camber.

Rear camber will normally be around -1.6 degree to -1.8 in the normal adjustment range. You would probably get around -1.5 degree at stock height if you want to set it to max positive. IMO -1.6 is about right for decent rear stability and tire life for street driving. Stock setting for rear toe is 18' minutes total (0.15 degree per side). That's pretty much ideal for most usage.
Front camber is basically fixed, unless you want to get M3 front arms, drill out alignment pins, get camber plates, etc. Stock setting for front toe is 12' to 16' minutes total (0.10 to 0.13 degree per side). IMO the stock front toe is too much for good handling. If you reduce it to 0.05 per side you will get a bit less understeer. |
