Comfort Access Entry - thoughts....
Had a loaner F15 the other day with keyless comfort entry.....
I discovered such a security flaw..... if I was standing eg 2 feet away from the locked car anyone around was able to go and open the car!!!! just go and gra thr handke and open. same if I had placed the key on the road few feet away!!!! I thought this was supposed to work only when the key was in my pocket and I touched the door handke at the same time!? Imagine you lock the car and walk away to do your shopping.... a thug pops from aroudn th corner the moment you make a first step away from your locked vehicle and he can open it!!!! and with u being 2 feet away from ur car, im sure if someone else were to open and unlock ur car u would know. if ur that afraid then change the unlock setting to driver door only so no other doors can be unlocked by someone else touching the comfort access ribs.

well who knows if its 2feet or ever 6 feet..... or more.......
should not be like this imho......... all it takes to duck down between two cars at a parking lot, wait and just to slightly open the door whilst you walk away from your vehicle after you lock it.... and presto once you are away the thief can play inside freely .... |

This is the stupidest concern I've ever heard. If you were using a regular remote, then you most likely are going to push the button at least several feet from the car as you walk up to it, so, same potential issue. I guess if you were going old school and putting the key in the lock, same thing, someone can come up on you right at that moment. Ultimately, if someone is going to take it, they're going to take it. They can take your key or fob right out of your hand or pocket. They can hit you over the head, they can break the window. First, I don't live somewhere where that would likely ever happen. Second, if I did, I would move. If this is really a legitimate concern, don't use it. Take the battery out and just use the key.

if the would be thief has the ability to utilize ninja like reflexes and timing and open the door before you lock it or open it after you lock it... you can set the audible alert. the vehicle will chirp once the alarm is engaged or disengaged. if any door or access point is open the vehicle will not chirp when enabling the lock/alarm. this really isn't a concern one should spend time on and if it that disconcerting that you worry about it to the point of anxiety then do not keep anything of value in the vehicle.

The idea behind that feature is that when you walk up to the car and pull the handle to get into the driver's seat, the other 3 doors remained locked so no one can get it on the side.

you are all missing the point and I do not make a big deal! Just a motor talk here..... so relax ladies point was that once I lock my car I want it to be locked . period. and not so that anyone around can grab the handle and enter it. in the begginng days of comfort access it was so that only the one with the key fob or key card in the pocket was able to unlock the car with direct touch to the handle...... so I was just surprised its different these days....... and for the record I dont have this option on my car so I am pretty relax ) peace |

OP, I understand your concerns, but to be quite honest if the thief is a professional they will enter your car with ease regardless if the car is locked or not. Even an amateur will just break the window, unlock the car and just do whatever they want with your car.
With that said, most people won't go and randomly grab the handle of your car while you stand near the vehicle to lock it.. With common sense and simple awareness it should not be a real concern.

The only exception is if you have something in your car that is visible and can be grabbed easily, like a camera or hand bag on the seat. They will go for that. Needless to say that they will go for that even if you don't have CA, they will break in your window, grab it and run. Seen this happen, it is over in three seconds. |
