And he's from MA, which means his insurance rate is going to take beating, assuming whoever hit him ran.

Yeah his day is ruined. The worst is if he walks up to the car from behind, it looks totally normal. Then he gets in his car, drives, and runs over his own bumper. My buddy showed me a 360 view of this. |

Maybe A6s are magnets for other cars. I had one and got in a hit and run on I-95 in Miami in 2012. $24K in damage / 4 months for repairs. I traded it in before repairs were done. Audi ended up CPOing it.
Edit - found a pic:

I had some close calls in my subsequent car (S4) as well. The M4 has never been on I-95 in Miami and I expect to keep it that way.
The A6 accident happened while driving in the express lanes at around 45 mph and a car skid across several non-express lanes on a wet road into me. Probably 1,000 witnesses in heavy traffic. No one stopped to check on me or called the police to report witnessing hit and run.

Thanks. I was sore for a couple of days and pissed for about 2 years but no real injuries so that's the good news.

Yup, and like most VWAG products a real pain in the ass job. A nut you can't see and can only use an open end wrench on. A wire connector that has to be transfered from old to new. Door panel clips that expand but don't retract, so must replace. And the only access to inner workings is through the speaker hole, at the bottom of door.

Oh jesus, you can get a cool car for less! (I fucking hate audis. My husband keeps buying them. Says a lot about the marriage.)

Friggin Audi. They "over" engineer in such a convoluted way. It's like their power steering systems. Guess what? SOME Audis use mineral oil for power steering fluid instead of ATF like everyone else. It costs 10x more and is a pain to work with. Somehow it's better? For $2300, that mirror better tell you that you're the fairest of all every time you look at it. Either that for free oral sex. |
