Tire Fitment Yoda Required! MPSS for 18x8.5j ET38 Squared
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for some help from those running 18x8.5j squared setups. I recently purchased a 135i that came with beautiful M6 replicas. They look great but the rim lips aren’t flush with the front tires. The offsets are aggressive but the previous owner had fender work done. 100% I’m going with Michelin PSS, that's a no brainer. Currently Fender Work: Rolled/pulled front and rear fenders (previous owner) Wheels: 18x8.5 ET38 all round Tires: Stock runcraps Front 215/40/18 (way too much rim lip poke) Rear 245/35/18 (fits fine) Suspension: Stock Camber: Stock Rubbing: ZERO RUBBING Option 1 (safe bet) Front 225/40/18 Rear 245/35/18 Option 2 (slightly more wide in the front) Front 235/40/18 Rear 245/35/18 I really want to go with option 2 as I suspect the rim lip in front will have better coverage from the tire. I don't want any rubbing and I know the MPSS tires have a high shoulder. I live in Toronto and street parking has become a new challege with the rims poking. Anyone with a 38 offset 8.5j running MPSS with problems in the front? Happy new year and thank you! Last edited by dandandan; 01-11-2016 at 12:05 PM.. |

I have a 225/40/18 on my 8.5" wheels. in my opinion, they look good. the lip isnt poking but the tire doesnt bulge out past the lip either. I would describe it as flush. This is with a Hankook Ventus V12 though. A PSS will probably fit a bit wider. I would go as wide as a 235 PSS in the front, especially with an ET38 wheel. Then again, its hard to tell because I don't know how much a pull the previous owner did on the fronts.
At the end of the day, I would go with option 1. |
